Clippers offer for Brand only around $1M less than 76ers!

Brand reached a verbal agreement with the 76ers on Tuesday for five years and about $82 million, spurning a comparable offer from the Clippers, according to multiple NBA sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak on player movements.

The Clippers upped their offer to Brand on Tuesday, agreeing to renounce their rights to several players and bumping it up to five years and $81 million.

But there was no bite from Brand, who was in Philadelphia at dinner with 76ers personnel, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Philly is a better team, offering more money, in a less competitive conference. It makes sense for him.

Philly wasn't that much better but you're right about him being in a weaker conference now.

there is absolutely no way the sixers were a better team. dalembert doesn't come close to matching chris kaman and baron davis is better than ANYTHING the sixers have.

How much "less" competitive now? I mean you've got Boston, Detroit, Orlando, Toronto, Philly, Cleveland, Washington. Don't kid yourself. The east is no longer some cake walk.

He didn't leave for $1 million. He left because he clearly did not want to be a Clipper anymore, the money is absolutely immaterial here.

Why he no longer wanted to be a Clipper, whether his change of heart was 'appropriate' or not, we unfortunately don't know all the details.

I think the Clippers should've just ponied up $76 to $80 right from the get-go, and may have locked him down with that (but maybe they did, I don't know.) If they didn't, then they weren't playing fair with EB and were trying to take advantage of his good will.

The fact that the Clippers ultimately came up with $81 without needing to make any trades to free up space means the $70 million offer was absolute bullcrap, a lowball offer for a premier allstar NBA PF who brings it every night. And if they actually offered it as a 'take it or leave it' offer, then they deserve what they got.

I just heard on the Jim Rome show that Brands agent never told Brand about the Clips offer. apperantly it was a revenge move on the agents part due to the Clips screwing over the agent some time ago on a Mike Bibby transaction. so now Brand is p***ed and unhappy about going to Philly. I don't know how reliable that is, but if true that agent should be shot on principle alone.

God I hope this is true, but I doubt it.

That cant be true, he just officially signed a while ago, he coudl have changed his mind. Its all bs because Clipper fans are making stuff up because of this. And sixers are a BETTER team then CLippers even b4 Elton came. Baron Davis is an overrated player, he is a shoot first, shoot second, and shoot third pg. He has terrible knees. Andre miller was the major reason the sixers made the playoffs, if is not on the sixers, sixers have a chance at a top 5 lottery pick. Clippers suck and will continue to suck as long as theya ct how they act now about losing brand and how they acted when they thought they had baron and brand.
