Corey Maggette Appreciation Thread

Post#1 » by loflin3hree5ive » Wed Jul 9, 2008 5:53 pm

I'm glad Corey got his money and didn't get burned for opting out. Thanks for all the good years, Corey. Maggette is a love/hate kind of guy on the floor, and although I couldn't stand him at times, I'll miss him in Clipper Nation. I think he'll play great under Nellie's system. Show some love for Corey Maggette.

I always liked Corey. As far as basketball IQ goes, I wouldn't call him "smart." But dude was tough, and no matter how you cut it, a really nice ball player. From his time in the dunk contest to when he developed an outside jumper, Corey has always been good to us. It threw me off when he cut off the braids and went for the bald-headed look, his biceps were always teetering on the line between sexy and scary, and he never really developed into the "take over a game" type player we hoped he'd be, but he was always a good Clipper. If nothing else, he was the most honest Clipper over his years year. He didn't really like Dunleavy and didn't want to be on the team if he was the coach, and he didn't make that a secret. So props to Corey, and I wish you success.

I agree. Corey had been one of my favorite players for years. The love/hate thing grew more toward the latter years. I'm glad that he got his payday which is what really he wanted (even if it was to a division rival). A week ago I felt bad since it was looking as he was going to end up a big loser in all of this, but he came out on the plus side. I wish him the best.

Congrats to Corey and his new contract. It will be nice to see him play in a style that seems to suit him. I hope Clipper fans cheer for him when he comes to Staples center. He's taken a lot of crap the past few years here, and I wish him the best. Oddly enough, I did like him more than Brand(before all this wacky stuff happened this off-season). He was always my go-to guy on NBA2k. :D

Only reason you are wishing him well is beacuse you didn't want him mkwest. Next time read my post, before you lock it. The other poster called me obnoxious, what for the red headed stepchild comment? Fine I'll accept that . You don't hear that everyday on the radio, when the LAC are beign talked about? LAC fans need to relax, if you read the post before you jumped to conclusions, you'd be better informed. Brand leaving is not as big a deal as you, other LA Clipper fans, as well as the media think, give it a few weeks, you'll be smiling again soon. Josh Smith will be a LAC within two weeks. Enjoy Josh Smith LAC fans.

First off you don't know a damn thing about me son so you can hush all that noise about what my thoughts are on Maggette. If you wanted your topic to be respected you shouldn't have came with that BS disrespecting us in the first place.

Corey was a solid player, and I won't miss him that much because of Thornton's emergence.

However, I see him fitting right into Nellie's style of play easily because of his knack to get to the line and unwillingness to play defense. Good luck to Maggs.
