Nice interview, there will always be some PR feel-good component in a coach's interview but he touched on several past/future issues regarding personnel. Apparently out of the various options previously mentioned Josh Smith was the one we were closest to making an offer to, either that or he figured on second thought that the Zach Randolph consideratio was too embarrassing to be brought up. He also addressed the Livingston issue, and while I feel that he could be purposely giving out somewhat negative sentiments to lower Shaun's market value/rival interests, it's also plausible that Shaun is not as ready as recent indications suggest (him playing 5v5, Sun's interest).

The topic of bigger concern imo was Dunleavy's readiness to playing a more free-flowing offense, which at least on paper we have a decent making for. He did recognize that his team does have the capability to play that tempo and claims that they will try their best to play that way, but stressed that he felt defense will be their strong suit. Dunleavy has taken a lot of criticism in the past for his stubborness with a half-court offense and inability to adjust. In all fairness however a free-flowing offense requires an aggressive/passing point guard, as well as other players being mobile and able to make the passes, and none of Dunleavy's teams over the past 15 seasons really carried those characteristics (Stoudamire could be an exception, but they were stuck with a half-court offense primarily due to the slow pace of Sabonis; prior to the period mention the Lakers had the proper personnel - and they did run to a certain extent, but they were still stuck in an era of the half-court game). Our projected roster for next season is the closest thing to the proper personnel suggested above, so let's put our pessimism aside and see if he can carry it out this time around.
