Thornton is the real deal and it's good to hear that M-Will finally did his thing in the SL :D

SL Game # 5 Clippers Vs Hornets

Post#103 » by mkwest » Fri Jul 18, 2008 1:55 am

I didn't watch the game or anything, but haven't found anything on any injury. Since it was the last game, Hughes probably just let the scrubs get some more time.

Clippers lose in overtime 80-76. Back to back games by Marcus Williams after showing little of nothing in the first 3. Even if it's summer league, I'm impressed that he's actually doing something. 24 points (8-16 FG, 8-9 FT), 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. It also looks like Fazekas had a decent game putting up 16 points, 6 rebounds and a block.

He'll probably make the squad since we have a few more roster spots to fill, but I doubt he'll see much playing time.

I just got back from Vegas. I saw the Clippers last 2 summer league games. Marcus Williams really impressed me. He was on fire against the Grizz, he was draining every single jumper.

I like what I saw from Thornton I think he is really going to be a good player for us in the future.

Mike Taylor did a little over dribbling at times and had some sloppy passes. He did show improvement in the second game I saw against the Hornets.

Jordan really impressed me. He didn't get a lot of shots but he was able to score when he was close to the basket. He is a monster at shot blocking and he was gobbling up rebounds.

My girl friend and I sat close to the other Clippers fans. It was nice to hear them chat and I joined in. I had a great time, if you guys get some free time you should go check out the summer league.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Just to add on I like what I saw from Fazkeas, he was very good around the basket. As far as Thornton getting injured I didn't see anything. I assumed that the coaching staff wanted to rest him during the final game.

Thornton was interviewed yesterday after the game. He speaks on the new acquisitions of Davis & Camby as well as the team's hopes for success in the upcoming season.

In person did it look like Thornton bulked up a bit? It did in the webcast but it can be deceiving due to the poor quality.

The Jordan pick is growing on me more and more each day. He may be raw but has nice potential. Camby, Kaman & Hughes should rub off on him very well. He says he's motivated after being passed on and falling to the second round. I'm wondering if he's going to be playing with the Clips in practice while sitting on the bench, or will he see some action on the Arsenal. It could be beneficial for him to start the season practicing with the team and then be sent down to the D-League to get some actual playing time.

In person it did look like Thornton put on some muscle. We sat right behind the Clippers bench. Maybe he might be able to play some 4 this season.

That's good to hear. If he's able to pick-up where he left off (averaging around 16ppg / 6rpg since mid-February) and show more consistency then the rest of the league better watch out. I remember the game against the Nuggets last season when he put up 33 & 12, there was a clip of Iverson saying "That guy's a monster." I really think he can be and will need to be one if we're going to make some serious noise next season.

BTW the reason that Al only played 14 minutes in the final game is due him feeling under the weather. So thankfully he didn't sustain an injury or anything like that.

That would make sense since I didn't see him hurt himself in the final game.

Seems like AL is ready to lead this new look old/young Clipper team straight to the postseason. Hope he can stay healthy for 78-82 gms.
