Livingston turned down a guaranteed AGREEMENT!

Why livingston?
Can't you prove yourself healthy and then get more money next year?
Livingston was a favorite of mines, I just don't get why he's asking for more money.
What do you guys think?

Re: Livingston turned down a guaranteed AGREEMENT!
I feel the same way you do. Kinda like I said in the last thread....either he's seriously overestimating his worth by holding out for a better deal, of he just wants out of here THAT BAD. It does make me sad-- he was a favorite and I was rooting for him to make it back for the last year and a half. Who knows what would've happened if he was healthy enough to return last season around the same time that our former PF did, or even if he were healthy enough to have played in the Summer League? Its a shame to know for sure now he will not be coming back. Speculation is one thing, but seeing it in writing makes it hurt.
Who knows...maybe no one else will make him a deal...or maybe he'll bolt to Europe! Either way, I'd be content...if we can't have him, nobody can!!

I'm so glad I never purchased a Livingston jersey
btw I see Shaun being the next Penny Hardaway post-injury

Kind of a stupid decision on his part. I think he's overestimating himself at this point. Has he even stepped on the court yet and practiced more than just 1 on 1? I hope he saved up some of that money from last season cause he's not getting a big contract anytime soon. Best of luck to him, and I hope he has a great career, but plays poorly against us.

Well shoe, I did buy a Livingston jersey and displayed it behind my desk at work for a long time.
I can't say I'm sorry I did --- he was one of my very favorite players and I originally came to this board because of Shaun. I got a lot of pleasure out of seeing how intelligently he played, and hearing what a nice guy he seems to be.
After seeing that injury, though, I have never held out a ton of hope, and I guess I've been letting go ever since, so this is a disappointment but not a surprise.
I don't know why he would turn this down, but whatever lies ahead for him, I wish him all the best.

When I met Shaun, I told him "you'll be the next Penny Hardaway". I meant Penny in his prime, not post injury

He wishes he could be the next Penny with the injuries.
I knew he didn't want to come back after the Clippers didn't extend his QO. I really wished he showed some loyalty to a team that had so much faith in him before and after the injury. The Clippers were nice enough to give him a guaranteed contract. As it stands, we made a horrible mistake picking a PG straight from high school at #4. I can't say I will root for him anymore. It'll be interesting if he takes a guaranteed for the same amount with a team that already has an established PG. Then we'll know he really hated being here.

Re: Livingston turned down a guaranteed AGREEMENT!
Livingston obviously didn't like the Clippers system and he feels that other teams are interested in him. I don't think he would be happy playing behind Baron Davis either. At least he was honest about it when they asked him if he is interested in signing with the Clippers.

Re: Livingston turned down a guaranteed AGREEMENT!
I had a feeling that Livingston would leave. Based on what he said it seemed like he didn't want to stay.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Re: Livingston turned down a guaranteed AGREEMENT!
The question is how much did he turn down? The team only offered 1 yr,so they obviously don't really consider him part of their future.
If all he was offered was a vet min for 1 yr,he has to think he could get at least a 2 yr vet min guaranteed from a deep pocketed owner whose team is building towards the future-Portland,NY,etc.

Re: Livingston turned down a guaranteed AGREEMENT!
I'd be surprised if another team offered him a decent amount more than the minimum. I thought that his best bet was to resign for a year and for us to retain his bird rights next season. It doesn't get much better than that. I think he's looking at opportunity. This is Baron's team for the time being and he'd be stuck in a back-up role for the foreseeable future regardless of how he returns or would be stuck playing out of position most of the time. I can't say I'm not disappointed though. I wanted him to make a triumphant on the Clips, so I still want him to make a return to the league. For me it would suck to see him not be able to play again. I wish him the best. I just hope he stays away from a few teams that I'll keep nameless.

Livingston should be looking at the Mavs and Suns as potential teams he could help. Both could use a decent backup PG that could eventually replace Kidd or Nash if he can return from his injury.

Apparently Shaun has 10-12 teams looking at him and he recently played some 5-on-5 for the first time in 17 months.

^ Thanks for the vid and the link, MK. Anybody else hear him mention playing some 5-on-5 with D-Miles? Niiice.
As bitter as I am about him not wanting to return to the Clippers, I really wish him the best wherever he goes. I hope he gets a ton of personal accolades in his career...but never goes to the playoffs with any team, unless he comes back to the Clippers sometime during his career

Thx, mkwest.
I note that Shaun puts himself at 75 per cent now, and I'm sure he's being as optimistic as he can be.
Who knows what level of interest those 10 or 12 teams are at, or whether they are teams where his agent sees the need for another back-up guard.
It sounds to me as if it is still very much a waiting game so they can't be teams in any hurry for this.
Again, I wish Shaun the best in whatever he ends up doing and wherever he is going to do that.
Looks like it won't be here, and at this point the Clippers are entering a whole new era anyway.
Turning points all around.

I'm hearing the Warriors and the Heat are the finalists for Livingston's services...the fun continues between the W's and Clips...

With the Warrior's fast pace offense. I would REALLY limit his minutes if he was to join them. He wasn't able to stay healthy in Dunleavy's half court game. I'd hate to see how he ends up in Nelly's system.
