I say save all our chips for 2010. Our team is pretty solid as is at the present.

I agree. We'll have a lot of cap space in '10($24M coming off of Mobley,Thomas, and Camby), and with the way things are working now. Free agents may take a 2nd glance at our team since we've been so active this season and acquired some talented players.

Na, it's not, I like Kleiza a lot too. He'd be a nice addition in a couple years.

We have a good chance to make a run to a great player in the summer of 2010.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I'm personally hoping for Bosh or Stoudemire.

But Stoudemire seems more desirable.

I'm personally not so sure about that. Hill will be a FA after this season. Nash (36) and O'neal (38) will be FAs in 2010 and will be even closer to retirement. As of today only Barbosa, Diaz, Lopez & Tucker will be under contract. If Stoudemire does opt out then they'll have flexibility to work with as well (assuming they don't re-sign Nash or O'neal).

Will the attractiveness of money, playing with a core of Davis, Kaman, improved young talent (Thornton, Gordon & Jordan) and living in LA will help sway a big name player to come here? I don't know, but we do have some good things going for us.

How will his knees hold up after 2010? I really hope we can get Bosh in a Clippers uniform in 2010. Imagine the line-up:
Kaman
Bosh
Thornton
Gordon
Davis
I would like to be able to keep Mobley and Camby as reserves if they would be willing sign for a inexpensive contract.

That's the million dollar question regarding Amare.

I'd take Bosh over Amare. I just think his game is overrated and I'm not sold on him being able to play defense. Perhaps we'll find out now that Mike D'Antoni is not coaching him anymore.

I'll take Studomire over Bosh anyday. Bosh is just a tall, skinny jump shooter. Amare is an animal. I would love to see him here. Not worried about him holding up either. He came from injury better than before. And now he can make the 10-15 footer no problem.

I don't even know why Bosh is on the Olympic team. He's good, but he's not at the level of all those other guys. If they were looking for a backup center, why not Kaman? Or even Shaq.

^ This is why I prefer Amare over Bosh. It may be an elementary reason, but hey...Amare is BEASTY. Bosh is kinda a puss. If Amare were guaranteed to be healthy...I don't see why you'd prefer Bosh over him. Talk about a great shot-blocking front line--Kaman & Amare? It would be over. Kaman and Bosh though...pretty weak. But like Guyv said, now that Amare is gonna have to go to work without D'Antoni, I think we'll see what he's really made of.

Amare plays mostly on one end of the court. He's a good weak side defender but he can't guard the post one-on-one against a legit big to save his life and he's terrible at defending the pick and roll. I think D'Antoni's system inflated his stats. If he didn't play with Nash would he be able to get his own shot? I don't think so. 75% of his shots made are assisted. Those easy dunks and layups would not exist. He has improved his mid range jumper but I'm not sold on his overall game and he can't create for himself or others out of the post.

I suppose pairing him up with Baron would be okay; he'll likely be as productive as he is playing alongside Nash (which is very productive) but offers not much else. If you're interested in others' takes on him, take a look at the 'Amare Stoudemire' thread on the general forum. It seems I'm not alone.

Whichever one has interest in signing here is the one I'd want. Amare would bring excitement & star power, top-notch athleticism and pure scoring. He was able to put up 20 points before Nash came, and with Baron setting him up he shouldn't miss a beat. The huge red flag that Amare has is obviously the knee. I do remember hearing that it would be likely that he would require another surgery in a few years after he first had microfracture surgery. Without the injury concern rearing its ugly head, I would take Stoudemire hands down.

Since that's not the case then you have to give a strong look toward Bosh as well. He is a more balanced player out of the 2. He's also had to work harder to create for himself given the surrounding pieces, but if he joined us he'd actually have some legitimate offensive weapons to play along with. He is the better passer and defender and I could really see him fitting into more of a #2 option complementary-type role for us.
