2008-09 (TV) Schedule is out

Post#1 » by mkwest » Wed Aug 6, 2008 5:01 pm

http://www.nba.com/clippers/schedule/

We open the season vs the Lakers as the home team on ESPN (our only listed nationally televised game). 11 of our first 16 games are at home but it'll be some tough competition early. We play the Lakers & Jazz 4 times in the first 5 games alone. We follow that up with 10 of 15 on the road in December. One of those home games will be against the Sixers on New Year's Eve. I'm not feeling that date but we will be able to release that negative energy just before entering the new year.

Anyone know why the last game vs. OKC is in Phoenix?

I like the start of this schedule.

The Lakers proved they are weak inside if you have someone strong take it to the basket. Now we have Baron. We also have 3 pt shooters and an inside game. Plus Kaman/Camby can handle the big men of the Lakers.

Then we get Denver, we always take care of Denver (unless we're missing half the team due to injury.) Plus Camby has motivation.

We'll probably get rolled in Utah though, lose by 40.

I say we start 2-0.

Shweeeet! First game is nationally televised, and against the Lakers. :D

Our first 7 games are against teams who made the playoffs last season so if we don't start off well I wouldn't be worried.

That would be so damn sweet to win the first game of the season. Two birds with one stone! I don't know if we'll do it or not because it's basically a whole new team looking for chemistry but it would be awesome!

I'm with everyone I love that our first game is against the Lakers and on national TV. Since I'm about to go away to school I can actually watch it. As for our last game being in Phoenix I have no idea.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Bynum dominated Kaman both times he played him. And he abused Camby also, I like Bynum and Gasol against Kaman and Camby all day. But it should be a nice game none the less. Good luck

I wouldn't use the word dominated, Kaman had 18 points and 16 rebounds. Plus Bynum is coming off an injury...

You're right, should be a good game

Most of the schedules had errors but they've fixed.

Denver will be without Melo and the Lakers may be without Kobe (it was said that he would miss the start of the season recovering from surgery, although I believe he said he'd be ready to go opening night).

Bynum and Kaman only played against each other once last season. His length did bother Chris quite a bit who was inefficient offensively (missed 7 of his first 8 or something like that) but still managed to put up 18 & 16.

And I can't wait for Baron to abuse Fisher and Thornton to mutilate Odom. Good luck to you too.

2008 Preseason Schedule

Post#12 » by mkwest » Thu Aug 14, 2008 4:47 am

The revamped Los Angeles Clippers, led by All-Star point guard Baron Davis, will open the 2008-09 NBA preseason on Thursday, October 9th as they take on their city and building rivals the Los Angeles Lakers at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA at 7:00 PM. Los Angeles will then travel to Oklahoma City for an October 14th match-up against Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City NBA franchise. The Clippers play their last preseason game away from STAPLES Center when they travel to Stockton, CA to face the Kings at the Spanos Center on October 15th.

Upon their return from the road, the Clippers then take part in the Lakers Preseason Shootout at STAPLES Center on October 18th and 19th with Los Angeles matching-up against the Toronto Raptors on the 18th at 4:30 PM. The Clippers follow that up with a contest against either the Lakers or FC Barcelona that will tip-off at either 4:30 PM or 7:30 PM on the 19th. The second day of the Lakers Shootout features a “winners vs. winners” and “losers vs. losers” format based on the results from the October 18th games.

The Clippers close out the preseason with three consecutive home games at STAPLES Center. On October 21st Los Angeles faces the Phoenix Suns, on October 22nd the Portland Trail Blazers come to town and on October 24th the Clippers will battle the Denver Nuggets in the preseason finale.

Local Television Schedule is out.

38 games on FSNPT
30 games on KTLA
7 games on FSN
7 games are non-televised

Non-televised regular season games are:
Sat Nov 22 @ New Jersey, 4:30pm
Tue Dec 16 @ Oklahoma City, 5pm
Fri Dec 19 @ Indiana, 4pm
Fri Jan 2 @ Phoenix, 6pm
Tue Jan 6 @ Dallas, 5:30pm
Fri Feb 6 @ Memphis, 5pm
Mon Feb 9 @ Charlotte, 4pm

The good news is that we'll be able to see every game during the last 2 1/2 months. We have 2 televised preseason games on the 21st and 22nd of October. I could be wrong, but we may get another depending on how the LA Shootout plays out.

Games televised on NBATV have not been released as of yet.

When will we ever get ALL 82 games televised??? At least 2 preseason games will be. Not to mention the preseason opener against the Lakers will probably be on KCAL.

And I guess I'll have to catch a live stream online for those 7 non-televised games.

I know what you mean, but it could be worse. I'm still holding onto hope that we'll pick up a couple more nationally televised games (possibly Phoenix or Dallas). The site that I was using to catch the non-televised games last season started to only put up the radio broadcasts (for the Clipper games) later on in the year.

Games to be Televised on NBA TV:

Monday, November 17 @ 7:30pm San Antonio @ LA Clippers
Saturday, March 14 @ 6:00pm LA Clippers @ Denver
Sunday, April 5th @ 6:30pm LA Clippers @ LA Lakers

Clippers also have the opportunity to be voted in on 8 of the 23 Fan Nights (including currently non-televised game against Dallas in January).

NBATV Schedule

The schedule on Clippers.com has been revised. We lost our two televised preseason games, but we now only have 5 non-televised regular season games.

Fri Jan 2 @ Phoenix, 6pm
Tue Jan 6 @ Dallas, 5:30pm
Fri Feb 6 @ Memphis, 5pm
Mon Feb 9 @ Charlotte, 4pm
Fri Feb 27 @ Sacramento, 7pm

So games against the Nets, Thunder & Pacers have been added to local broadcasts while we lost the game against the Kings in February.

I'm a little disappointed that we won't be able to get a good look of them in preseason, but I'll gladly trade that for a few extra regular season games. We've received extra games towards the beginning of the season, so there's still the possibility that if we're a marketable team come midseason that some of the remaining games could get picked up by ESPN or NBATV.
