Wiretap: Q Ross Expected to Sign With Grizzlies

The Grizziles are expected to sign free agent Quinton Ross soon in an attempt to add both defense and maturity on the wing, according to Memphis Commercial Appeal.

The swingman, who played the last four seasons with the Clippers, is expected to officially ink a minimum, non-guaranteed deal Friday.

Ross would be another defensive player the Grizz will have on the roster for training camp. He will have to put in a good fight in order to become a mainstay on the roster.

^ Yes, the Clippers could have offered Ross the minimum. Clips also could have also given Q a guaranteed deal unlike what he got from Memphis. I have a feeling Ross may have been signed just to D up Gay and Mayo in camp before having his contract terminated when the Grizz likely fall out of playoff contention after the first month of the season. Kind of like how the Clips cut Ruben Patterson last year when it became obvious we weren't going anywhere.

I was talking to my uncle about Q signing with Memphis awhile back. If he stays, I hope he'll keep his cousin out of trouble. I'm surprised that it took this long for someone to show interest in him.

^^ I didn't know that Q and Arthur were family. If Q is meant to stick around for the long haul, he should be able to help the Grizz backcourt out defensively and also help keep DA's head out of trouble.
