Stephon Marbury, who could wind up in Miami, Boston, San Antonio or the Clippers, said he has no desire to work out a buyout with the Knicks.
"There wouldn't be no negotiation," Marbury said. "They're going to give me all my money. ... If they want to waive me and give me all my money, fine. If not, I'll try to help this organization win the championship. They told me to come to camp in the best shape of my life and I did that. But I don't want to be in a place I'm not wanted."
It seems that Marbury has been put on waivers, and being that there are no teams with $17 million in cap space to claim him, the Knicks obviously have the intentions of buying out Marbury's contract. Having to pay Marbury all of his remaining money isn't something that would keep the Knicks from buying him out if that's what they want him to do.
Assuming Marbury's contract is bought out, I'd like to know how the writer of this article got the notion that the Clippers would be in the hunt for Stephon Marbury. I appreciate Dunleavy's aggressiveness if it's true that the Clippers have inquired about Marbury, but I don't see Marbury picking the Clippers over Boston, San Antonio and Miami, especially with the amount of competition he would face with the Clippers. He would be fighting for minutes with Boom, J-Will, EJ, Cat and Jason Hart at both guard positions.
I was pretty surprised to see the Clippers named as a possible suitor for Starbury. However, Dunleavy and Marbury are both Brooklyn natives and have both been in the league for awhile. It wouldn't surprsie me if the two have known each other for awhile. And Dun did diss Isiah pretty bad last year, I'm sure Marbury got a kick out of that. I doubt Marbury would choose the Clips but does anybody have an opinion on this?
