Avery Johnson is interested in coaching the Clippers?

How about demote Dunleavy Sr to assistant coach, and hire Avery Johnson as head?

It's been like 6 seasons. Clippers are not going anywhere. Isn't it time to change
driver? Still early in the season. Clippers can make adjustments to turn things
around.

I would offer Avery Johnson a 3-year contract (about $10 million, with a 3rd year option).

A lot of us agree with sticking Dunleavy to GM duties, but I don't know if Avery is a good fit for this roster. Wasn't he pretty strict in Dallas? I'm not sure if face pace/run-n-gun type offenses would fit well with a coach who wants to command every offensive play like I hear Avery tried to do in Dallas.

Dunleavy doesn't need to be demoted, just needs to resign his duties as head coach and continue as GM.

As for Avery, it would be interesting. Not sure if it's a good fit though. From what I remember, Mavs fans thought Avery's offense was too predictable; he loved running Iso plays (hey, sounds like Dunleavy already). Also, I remember his players said stuff about him when he left. I forgot what it was, but it had a bad connotation.

Coaching is a problem and I don't think we can fix it this season. Maybe in the offseason and hopefully Dunleavy is willing, so I kinda don't want to think about it right now, although it is in the back of my head...

Avery sounds a lot like Dunleavy. Controlling on offense, predictable, and he wants his team to play defense. Only thing is that Dunleavy makes some dumb moves and I don't get why he does it

Pretty misleading title. I don't see Baron and Avery meshing at all unless Avery has learned from his overbearing ways in Dallas. Mike would never be an assistant coach. He'd either resign from his coaching position and remain GM or leave the organization all together.

There were reports that 4 or 5 Maverick players were demanding to be traded if Avery Johnson wasn't let go after the end of last season. I'd like a new coach, but I don't think Avery Johnson is a good fit.

I don't think Avery would work here. For there to be so many coaching changes this offseason and for him to be actively pursuing a gig, but him getting passed over time and time again seems very telling. Several Mavericks players grew tired of him. Like Loflin, I doubt that Avery and Baron would click.

Here's a wild idea.... how about Flip Saunders. ONLy because he's an offensive coach and that's what seems to be the problem with this team. The offense is too stagnant. I know he's terrible in the playoffs but, you have to win games in order to make it to the playoffs. Again, just a name to throw out there.

I would be interested in either Van Gundy or Saunders to replace Dunleavy. They're pretty much polar opposites though. JVG is a defensive guru, while Saunders is much more offensive minded. If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose Saunders, because our offense can get really stale at times. Plus, I want to keep hearing JVG call games, that guy is pure comedic genius. Probably my favorite commentator.

Hiring Avery Johnson would be like betting on an 8-team parlay. Maybe one out of every 150 players will become better under his tutelage....or once every 150 tries, he'll think of something that nobody else has thought of....

There is no way you can ever hand over the keys to a multi-million dollar organization like the LA Clippers, to him. He's not qualified.

I'd hire Pat Summitt before Avery Johnson.
