Clips with interest in Randolph again..

Post#1 » by PlinkingPanda » Mon Nov 17, 2008 6:32 pm

Zach Randolph’s excellent start to the 08-09 season has enhanced his trade value, with one of the teams that pursued him last summer, the Clippers, interested again.

A league source says the Clips are down on center Chris Kaman, but his contract doesn’t fit the Knicks’ desire for deals that expire after next season, so another team would be necessary to make something happen.

Honestly if this happens we know for damn sure that our season is over. Dunleavy did so well in the off season. He's screwed up badly in our first 9 games.. Don't make it worse man..

My initial reaction here: Ewww...

I agree with you Fishy. Things are bad enough, for the love of God, please don't make them worse!

I bet Z-Bo won't miss gimmes and bobble the ball in the post like Kaman always does.

I wasn't in favor of this trade in the off season and I'm not welcoming this trade right now. Things are bad enough for us defensively already, no point in making it worse.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Let's just hope that this is an unfounded rumor.
I was against this acquisition before, and I am still against it.
It's encouraging if they are looking to make changes to improve the team, but this change sure wouldn't do that. It's a pretty cringe-making thought altogether.

I love Chris Kaman as well, but Zach Randolf is playing like a beast 20.8pts per game, 12.9 rebs per game. Thats a powerful dude. Kaman is have a difficult time catching easy passes. We shall see. This is a tough one.

Wait guys, look at where we're at and look at what Kaman has done thus far...NOTHING! This is a trade we have to consider. Zach's rep(being a Knick) precedes him. He's a consistent 20/10 who gets easy baskets. Like mj_shoefanatic said, he won't bobble basses, blow easy layups, possess a low bball IQ, look lost, etc. You say he has no defense? Fine, but Kaman hasn't exactly been the defensive enforcer we needed him to be this season and having Camby(a guy who gets it and plays his butt off) makes him expendable.

Sorry, as much as I want Kaman to prove me wrong, he just won't. Look at it this way, would you trade Kaman for Camby + Randolph? Essentially, that's what we'd be doing, and I think more of you would go for that.

You guys may be right about that, but I don't know. It's hard to find a quality big man, and Camby is getting old...

Knicks want no part of Kaman. Give us Camby and Jordan for Zach and it's a deal. If you're hell bent on keeping Camby and want to pair him with Zach (which is what I wish the Knicks could do ((Malik and Lee for Camby?))) then send Kaman to Detroit and Jordan to us so we can get back Sheed and Jordan for Zach. That's fair value for the Knicks IMO, despite everyone on this board insisting that Zach isn't a quality player. The dude is a beast right now. I'm one of the many people eating crow as we speak. Kaman's contract is pretty much a wash with Z-Bo's, and Zach is the better player to boot. So don't even fret over this rumor, cause it's not going down.

Exactly. Kaman may be struggling right now, but maybe that's because there's too much pressure on him to produce without Brand. He's pretty much your only option in the post on offense. He's struggling? No sh*t sherlock. Zach replaces that production on the offensive end easily. Let Kaman do the work defensively, help Zach on the boards, and score when the defense overplays Zach. Your frontline would be nasty.

I'm sure most of you love Camby because he plays hard...every fan loves a player like that....but in reality, he makes that frontline really unbalanced. Not to mention, he's old and will only be around for another season. Send him and DeAndre to the Knicks for Zach and call it a day. Your team will be significantly improved....I promise. Kaman is young and proven. So is Zach. Keep Kaman around and give him somebody that will compliment him. I know us Knick fans have gone back on our word about Z-Bo, but that's because he's earned our approval on a nightly basis. Most of the people on our board are against trading him. I personally am more concerned with 2010. Camby finally gives us some shot blocking for a couple of seasons, and we get a young prospect for our troubles. If I were GM of the Knicks, I'd even throw in Malik's expiring in exchange for Mobley or Thomas to help you out a bit more.

I'm like a broken record, but I will say it again. Why must people put the blame on Kaman for our loses? Has he really played that poorly this regular season? Yes, he is frustrating to watch and sticks out like a sore thumb when he makes his stupid turnovers (traveling in the key, going for reverse layups instead of dunks, one hand jump passes to the other team). But, even if he didn't make these mistakes, would they change the outcome of the game? We are getting blown out, and its not because of any one player, its the lack of team defense and chemistry.

Kaman is what he is. He's going to be a solid center that is almost a lock for a double double every game with a block or two. He'll have good shooting percentages and average one turnover too many than should be expected out of a center. Overall, he is one of the few matchups opposing teams have to worry about when playing us.

No can do. Doing this would cripple us for 2010 as well. Kaman is expendable because he has 4 years left. Zach for Kaman is the only deal I would do, no DJ included.

i really don't think opposing teams are worried about chris kaman. i also don't think his play is the sole reason he'd be traded, if he ever is. his attitude towards the organization has been well documented.

Well as I said, the Knicks wouldn't do a Kaman/Zach trade. My other idea might please all teams, but I think you'd have to give up DJ or at least a pick for the Knicks to bite. If Detroit is interested in Kaman, I'd like to get them involved so we can land Sheed. Clips get Zach, Detroit gets Kaman, and we get Sheed and DJ. Detroit should throw you a late 1st rounder or 2nd rounder since they're getting such a bargain. Would make up for losing Jordan as well.

How high are you guys on Jordan anyway? I know nothing about him besides what he did in college (which wasn't much) and his obvious physical attributes. Has he gotten any burn so far this season? He played decently in preseason, no?

It strikes me as interesting that most of the people working to push this trade here are New York fans.
