Take Elton Brand, subtract the defense, make him less efficient offensively and you have Zach Randolph.

Not doing back-flips right now. I'm hoping Mike talks to the Bobcats again and makes a J-Rich & 1st round pick for Chris Kaman by the time Monday rolls around. To me it looks like they're moving towards an up-tempo team, but the thing is... the Clippers don't have a bench, they need one badly. They need to pick up bench players whenever they can.

They would probably take JRich straight up at this point, or maybe swap picks somewhere. They're not going to squeeze a first round pick out of the Bobcats.

It's a really good deal for LA since they weren't big players for 2010 anyways.

Zach will look really good at PF next to Camby or Kaman. If you guys ship Kaman out to wherever, Camby is a good partner in the post for Randolph. Most Knicks fans will give you a good report of him. Had character issues but NONE of them showed up in NY. We even got to see him put effort into man defence.

You guys really did get a steal here. I'm not too impressed with what we got back. You got a guy who is playing like an all star, out of position, for 2 washed up guys, and a 2nd rounder.

Much rather we'd managed to grab Camby.

As I predicted, the people who are showing the most excitement and enthusiasm about Randolph being a Clipper are the Knicks fans.
Aargh.
I feel sick about this trade.
Any other teams want to get rid of a difficult guy? Clippers are apparently in the market.

I've heard a few people say this, and that Kaman or Camby will have to be traded, but I don't really get it. Three guys splitting all the mins at PF/C means 32 mpg each, which is more than enough for all of them. So why can't you guys have/use all three? I know Al plays PF sometimes, but I thought he was really more of a SF, and I find it very hard to beleive that any of you have fallen in love with Skinner or Paul Davis. So what's the problem with having all three guys at once?

Btw, I get that some of you don't like this trade for other reasons (attitude, lack of defense, contract, etc.), and understand those points just fine. It's exclusively the "now we have three bigs, so one must go" logic that I'm struggling to grasp.

It's not that one must go.

I think one (Kaman) will be traded, because the will end up the better for it (depending of course on what they could get back.) This only works for the Clippers if they can get roughly equal value for Kaman, who is a good NBA center with a reasonable contract.

The team needs more explosiveness at the 2, and Kaman has good trade value. It would be nice if Gordon were to provide it, but it's too early to tell.

I seriously hope so, but since Randolph learnt he could shoot the basketball (he really always could, just since he decided he wanted to do it more often), he has been playing more like a SG and even jacking up three's. Hopefully Dunleavy can keep him close to the basket.

Well I got tickets for Dec. 28th, hopefully the Clippers win that game.

Z-Randolph is still a 20/10 type of player...so we'll see.

Let's just hope Z-Bo can box out. The offense is gravy but just box out... please....

Kaman and Hart for Jason Richardson works under the cap, as does Kaman for Rip Hamilton straight up. I don't think Hart can be traded until Dec 15 since he was acquired during the offseason.

I do. Our bench is terrible and either of them can help.

Warrior fans, You're welcome.

(But seriously, you guy got a 20/12 player for two old washed up roleplayers. You didn't even have to give up a young promising big like we had to with Frye. Deal Kaman for Carter and you guys will definitely turn it around and make the playoffs.)

Because Zach Randolph sucks, has a bad contract, plays no defense and is not worth even Mobley AND Thomas combined. The Knicks made out like bandits here.

Unless this is the front end of another trade, the Clippers lost big time here. Talk about a 6'9" player who is not a shot blocker, Randolph over the last 3 seasons has blocked 14, 15 and 16 shots total. This is in 2,545, 2,425 and 2,244 minutes of play.

He has averaged 20 pts and 10 boards in 2 seasons and has shot over 50% in only 1 season, his second when he was primarily a reserve in Portland. His salary is higher than Elton Brand over the next 3 seasons as well.

well, in all fairness to the clippers line of thought, randolph's shot blocking isn't exactly a high priority. he'll be playing next to camby and kaman, not eddy curry.

Yes, there are guys that are good PFs that don't block many shots, Carlos Boozer, for one, but he is a consistent 20+ scorer 10+ rebounder who has shot over 50% in each year he has been in the league. Randolph isn't very good in terms of earning his contract.

Good point. Boozer, although is a better player than Randolph, isn't a good defender. He'd get dissed all the time if he was a Knick. It's definitely a case of the Knicks rep preceding the player himself.

eh, randolph's rep was well established before he went to the knicks. as far as his comparison to boozer, jgustav1 has a point. boozer, unlike randolph, is actually a very efficient scorer, while zach is anything but. i seriously doubt he'd get dissed all the time because frankly he's way better.
