i think thats the scouting report of this team when we match up
teams know were gonna play 1 on 1 ISO
I guess I'm not really disagreeing with anything you say, but just continuing the conversation-
No matter what your players, you need a good offensive system that makes the most of your players' strengths, and obviously can be effective against NBA defenses.
I think the issue is not whether say ZBo is a iso-type player- most all power forwards are (or should be!) He can score on the low post when he is defended 1-on-1, or at least generate good shot opportunities. The issue is can he recognize double-teams and pass out of them, or even better find the open man when he is double-teamed? If he can, then he is the best of both worlds- he can generate his own shot, yet play well within a team concept. A team without at least a couple of these guys is ultimately going to stagnate offensively, because there's no one who can rescue a possession when the shot clock is down to 8 seconds, or create something when they face a team with good defenders who don't get lazy off the ball. NBA point guards have become more scoring oriented in the last few years, because a double-threat PG is hard to ever totally contain- he can potentially beat you no matter how you try to defend him.
A ball hog is obviously not a good thing, or someone who has poor court awareness and turns the ball over or takes bad shots when he is defended well or double-teamed. If that's what you more or less meant by 'ISO' player, then yeah they are a very mixed bag (Maggette anyone?) Randolph has been huge for this teams since arriving, and it's no coincidence that we have suddenly started winning games. He is carrying a big offensive load and seems to be passing out of double-teams and avoiding mistakes (for the most part), that's the kind of contribution you get from a 'ISO' player who is playing efficiently.
