We knew what we were getting in Baron- a great clutch player but older and injury-prone, and not really consistent enough to carry a team by himself like the real top shelf players. Sort of like a flashier, somewhat younger Sam Cassell.

Only difference is Sammy actually cared when he played for us. He gave it his all and gave us a swagger never seen before in a Clipper uniform. Sorry, but I'd take that 36yr old Sammy over this 29yr Baron 10 times out of 10.

I really hope he comes back to us next season. We should create a statue of him in front of Staples center. :P

you're right. the other four players on the court don't deserve any of the blame for being unable to close out games.

Baron was hired and got the big bucks to be the man. He needs to be the leader on the team and show no fear at the end of games. Kind of like Sam Cassell used to do. But Baron isn't that guy, he totally chokes at the end and just jacks up 25 footers. Where are the drives to the lane to create something or draw a foul? If Baron didn't want to be the man he shouldn't have accepted the huge contract.

baron accepted a 65 million/5 year contract ==> (there's something here...) ==> only baron is accountable for every late game meltdown

are you kidding me? that's not nearly enough reason to be put ALL the accountability on baron's shoulders. people who think like this have no clue how nba free agency works.

All I know is, Baron isn't the man he's supposed to be. He cannot close out games at all. Why is it that a small, old, feeble guy like Cassell get his shot off everytime but a big, strong, younger guy like Baron never does....NEVER. Its nothing but fade away three's at the buzzer, everytime. He was lucky to make one at Portland. And if he doesn't take the shot, at least create something, get fouled, do something!
