Ex Clipper Stars are bench players
It just seems so weird to me that Brand, Maggette, and even Odom are all their respective team's 6th man.

Perhaps a sign that maybe we did something right...?
For the record though, Dunleavy tried and failed for about three years to get Maggs to come off the bench. And I don't know if Brandy Boy will stay coming off the bench, I think its just a tool to integrate him back after the shoulder injury. Odom though-- there's simply better talent in front of him. Plus, he's getting older, and still stoned.

Brand is coming off an injury, and trying to fit in with a team that finally started to gel while Brand was hurt.
Maggette is coming off an injury too, and well, we all know about his strengths and weaknesses.
Odom never was able to progress beyond the 'Jack of all trades, master of none' abilities he has. He's still a good player, but I think the Lakers would be better suited with a grinder at his forward spot to complement Kobe and Gasol.

Re: Ex Clipper Stars are bench players
Like others have said, Brand is coming off of an injury and trying to get back into form playing basketball. I was a little surprised that Corey was OK coming off the bench for the Warriors. I would only say that he's a bench player because they have a number of people at the SG/SF spot.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Quentin Richardson, Andre Miller, Bobby Simmons, and Vladimir Radmanovic are all starting... there are just a lot of former Clippers around the league.

Right, but they weren't exactly "stars," with the exception of maybe Q-Rich. Lifter was pointing out dudes who were considered "franchise players" for the Clippers.

You mean the players I listed aren't stars?!
Well at least Miller and Radmanovic were before they played for us.

With hair like this, of course Vlad was a star.

No they weren't. Radmanovic was playing behind Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis. Andre Miller had a league leading 11apg on a Cavs team worse than the Clippers are now - hence their willingness to trade for Miles.
Q-rich and Simmons have never been considered franchise player/AST candidates.
Along with Olowakandi, Brand and Odom were each at one point or another considered the Clippers' franchise player. Maggette was probably never considered a franchise player by anyone, but he was the team's leading scorer for a while. These guys all expected max contracts at some point, and they were all speculated to be All Stars if the Clips were ever good enough (both things happened for Brand but not the others).
Kandi's obviously not even in the league anymore. The other three are coming off the bench. I find it interesting. Odom is not old, whoever said that is crazy. He's younger than Kobe I think. As far as Brand's situation coming off an injury, look at it this way. If it were Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, etc., you think any of those guys would be coming off the bench in the same situation?

Re: Ex Clipper Stars are bench players
Interesting that Brand has been mentioned as being potentially available in the Wire Tap today.
I don't think the Clippers would trade Brand for ZBo straight up right now, though it would probably be a close call (if you disregard the bad blood part.) I just don't know how much of Brand's struggles is due to rust, and how much is more or less permanent deterioration from the injury.
I think Brand got overvalued a bit based on his 2005 season which was statistically head-and-shoulders above anything else he has done in the NBA (he averaged about 25 and 10 that year.)

I wouldn't want Brand back. It's interesting that he was looking for loyalty and trust and having a franchise do anything to get him. Now he might not even be with that franchise. The NBA is a cold game.

It would help if he didn't suck.
