oh wow. somebody give this guy a hand.
first of all, (and pardon my french) what the HECK is this guy doing in the locker room?
it's like the secretary in the boss's office, HE HAS NO BUSINESS THERE!
he screws us for idk how many years, he sees the team as a paycheck, and nothing more,
he has absolutely NO interest in the game of basketball let alone the los angeles clippers.
but NOW he wants to be an 'nba owner'? NOW he wants to come in and right the wrong?
he doesn't know the first thing about basketball, leave that job to the bad staff you hire.
we have some REAL TALENT on our team, maybe a bit mislead and unorganized, not to mention injury struck but this team's not looking bad, looks like we're just a couple moves away, so why don't you do this? if you're not going to sell, then just send your checks and stay away because the players can care less about what you say anyway, you're only going to discourage and make them uncomfortable.
if there's anyone who needs to be traded it's YOU!
ps. i've been mowing lawns since i was 6 hoping to one day save up enough money to make you sell in heartbeat. i'm 18 now, give me 37 more years and you'll be eating my dust, donald duck.

Re: Sterling goes off
It's nice to go on this board and see everyone's justified disappointment and anger towards DTS, Dumbleavy, etc. There's another board (I won't give out the URL) where the Dumbleavy and DTS supporters are so filled with blind faith, they don't wanna put any blame on them at all. What a joke.

Re: Sterling goes off
In this one colossally self-indulgent action, Donald T. Sterling has trashed the whole Clippers organization and the people around them.
He must think that, in every way, he "owns" the team and everyone and everything involved in it, so he feels he can do whatever comes into his head to do, whether or not he is in a childish rage at the time.
Actually, I think there's more to it than that.
Everyone who works for the Clippers organization in any capacity is going to feel this. We fans who care about the team feel it. Anyone who relies on the team or supports it has a little bit of moral ownership in it, and is going to be hurt by this.
If owners think the team is not playing up to their expectations, or that some players are playing selfishly, then they tell the coach about that, and it is the job of the coach to relay the message to the players. The owner is unhappy: he wants more ball movement. Or whatever.
To point fingers at individual players in front of their teammates, to rage and swear loudly in the locker room, to tell the coach to "shut up" in front of the players and other staff --- and to have everyone on at least this continent (and some beyond it) who reads sports pages, fan boards or hoopshype know about it the next day --- this is the act of someone willing to devalue his own whole franchise for the sake of his personal need to throw a tantrum.
Which current Clippers players does he think still want to play for this team? Which college players are now not dreading the possibility of being drafted here? Which players elsewhere in the league does he think would willingly sign with this team, or wouldn't fight with everything thay have, to avoid being traded here?
What Clipper isn't considering the two most obvious choices Sterling has left them with --- either shooting as selfishly as they can to inflate their stats to make them more desirable to other teams, or being sick, injured or otherwise unable to play for any possible reason?
I've wondered for a long time why he wants to own this team. Now It is an even greater mystery to me. What kind of owner taints "his property" like this?

Re: Sterling goes off
Oh boy... I really think this is going to have a counter productive effect. What does DTS think is going to happen by going off on the team like that? Does he think it's going to motivate them and turn the team around? The reality is, it's going to make the players even more bitter than before, especially since it's not the best of situations.
The worst part of it all, is that he's giving dumbleavy a free pass. All hope was lost when I read that comment. Probably means we're going to be stuck with him for awhile. And with that in mind, what is there really to look forward to? Sure, the players are going to improve (hopefully), but the coaching and the plays will remain the same. Seeing this team now, with the talent we have on the roster, it's more than just the players. It goes further than that. Players have given up on the coach. The biggest "what if" IMO, is Kaman. Is he really going to put us over the hump? Sure, he was probably playing injured, but I don't think he's going to be the difference maker we need.
Which boils down to the point guard. There's obviously a rift between Baron and Dumbleavy. I don't think it's going to go away. At this point, the best thing we could do is to get rid of one of them, and I'd like it to be Dumbleavy. It's really a risk though. If we get rid of Dumbleavy (which I don't think will happen), and Baron still stinks it up, or wants out, then we're really screwed.
Something major has got to happen, or else I don't see the team improving much next season.

Re: Sterling goes off
Probably would have been a good move for Dunleavy to have stepped in when DTS was ripping AL a new one and sate that he does take some responsibility for the season. As it stands right now I don't hink Dunleavy feels he is responsible one bit for his season.
DTS is an idiot and calling the one of the few players the Clippers DRAFTED with talent makes us look bad come draf time with young prospects. The guys can only play and wait at this point.

This is my biggest beef with Dunleavy to date. Not only does he stand by and let the owner tear up his players (granted, he tried to interject but was shut-up by DTS), but he doesn't step up and take any responsibility for our **** season? So now, instead of gaining some trust from the players, they probably don't respect him at all. I wouldn't.

Re: Sterling goes off
The Donald has always been the Achilles heel of this organization. I don't think it's a coincidence at all that his fellow owner friends happen to be a guy named Al & two guys named Jerry (birds of a feather right?). He is shelling out millions of dollars for the organization, but imo he hasn't earned the right to do what he did or say what he said. If he were a more involved owner (like CS mentioned) then there would be more of a case for it, although it would still be classless and of poor taste). The fact of the matter is that he just decided to start doing some of the things that the typical owner should be doing, but he is still severely lacking and behind the curve. He is a man (and I use that term loosely) that has taken short cuts through the majority of his ownership and shortcuts don't always work because you need a foundation to build off of. He needs to look towards making some changes at the root.
As far as placing all of the blame on the players....they certainly do deserve a lot of blame because they aren't playing to the best of their abilities. Some of that is understandable due to injuries, whereas some of it is due to what appears to be some of the guys dogging it. The coaching staff also cannot be without blame. There's an obvious disconnect between the head coach and some of the personnel. It takes to tango. I personally think that some coaches are successful due to their system (which require pieces that fit system), but a good coach should be able to play to the strengths of the talent that he has to work with. That definitely hasn't been done this year.
All in all, Sterling is the reason that people laugh, point and poke fun at the Clippers. Outbursts like these will only carry on that timeless tradition.
