Bankshot Bingo by Fred Jones with .6 left in the half to make it a 5 point game at the end of the 2nd quarter. Clippers down 46-51. It's a sloppy performance from both teams. We started off 3 for 15 or something like that and are actually shooting better than the Nuggets right now. The difference is Denver is 14 of 17 from the line and we're 5 of 9. They have 30 rebounds (7-offensive) to our 19 (1-offensive). Thankfully they only have 2 second chance points. Other than Balkman who has had some close looks at the basket, nobody else is shooting that well for Denver. Camby missed most of his shots to start the game and Thornton was terrible, but he is starting to convert. Gordon picked up his 3rd foul with a minute and a half left in the 2nd quarter before being pulled. He'll need to be cautious of picking up his 4th.

The second quarter was certainly easier to watch than the first quarter, and after Fred Jones' handy three=pointer at the end there, we are looking reasonably respectable.
I will go into the second half with some hope.

I used to like listening to what other announcers had to say about our players (primarily on national television). I could only imagine some of the criticisms that are shot this way.

Actually the Denver announcers have been pretty decent about the Clippers in this game so far. They've spoken well of Gordon, and of course they really like Camby. They've sympathized with Kaman over his foot injury with no detectable sarcasm, and have been very polite about Thornton when he was making a few bone-headed plays. They're trashing the officiating, but they are nice about the Clippers.
I always feel Ralph and Mike are the best local announcers you can get, so I'd always rather hear them.

It seems a foul is called each possession for both teams.

That is good to hear that they haven't been too harsh on us. It's kind of funny with Thornton. I remember last year when we played them and Thornton went off. You could hear Iverson saying "that guy is a monster." He can be, but I just wish it was more often.

You are too right, Fishy.
I love to cheer on my team, but this year has been brutal.
Gotta get us a coach the players will listen to, or how many of us can bear another year or two like this?

Gordon has missed 3 of his last 4 foul shots. It looked like Andersen got away with a travel (ups and downs), but they didn't show a replay to verify if a Clipper player touched the ball. 85-71 Nuggets at the end of 3. That was a hard quarter to watch, but it could have been worse. We were down by 20 at one point. Melo picked up 4 fouls in the quarter. Nene went off with 11 points of his 17 points. 12 more mins to go, hopefully we can cut into their lead early.

Oh well.
As mkw said at one point, it could have been worse.
At this point our expectations are bound to be in the gutter anyway.
We did get 14 steals --- Camby had 5 himself.
And Gordon and Thornton ended up scoring 17 each.
It wasn't too embarrassing. :-?

Nuggets down the Clips 107-94. By the skin of your teeth J Smitty

We got hammered on the boards 56-30. Nuggets had 3 players in double figures in rebounds. Rebounds primarily come down to effort. You have to want them, and you're not going to get that many if you expect them to drop into your hands.

I really hope that the ball will bounce our way in May.

Haha yeah. I figured the Nuggets would do that to me....the one time I bet money against them, is when they actually blow a team out. Luckily for me they pretty much stayed to form, and never put the game away, even when getting up by 15+ a couple different times.

I felt so awkward sitting in the arena cheering for the Clippers the last couple minutes, and booing Melo when he scored....everyone was looking at me crazy. I love you Al Thorton! :)

Good Lord, those were some Vince-esque dunks he had there! This guy would be perfect for the dunk contest next year.

I wasn't able to watch this one last night because I had to catch a flight. I saw that we lost and I heard it was a tough game for us in the beginning. I just hope we win something soon.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!
