Clippers/Grizzles Talks About To Start Again?

Post#1 » by ClipperDomination » Wed Jul 1, 2009 5:20 am

Would the Clippers would match a significant offer for Novak’s services? That probably depends on what they get back/have to swallow in any deal they make with one of the frontcourt guys. According to sources, negotiations with Memphis will pick up again soon. The Grizzlies still need a scoring big man, and they’re now carrying Quentin Richardson’s $9.35M contract, along with the other superfluous pieces on their roster (Greg Buckner and Marko Jaric, both expiring in 2011). In most cases, a team can’t trade a guy for two months after they acquire him in a deal, but since Memphis is under the cap, they’re exempt from this rule in Richardson’s case.

While insiders contend the organization remains undeterred in its efforts to consummate a trade for Los Angeles Clippers forward Zach Randolph, there are several other options the Griz can now consider in hopes of bolstering their frontline. Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley is determined to bring to Memphis a high-caliber power forward, making that his priority this offseason, less than two years after gift-wrapping Pau Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers. That player must fit the criteria, though, of being young, productive and reasonably priced. Memphis Commercial Appeal

I like it. It'd be even better if we could somehow pry Sam Young from them.

Ah crap, Grizz about to make an offer to David Lee. If they get him, we'll look VERY VERY STUPID for not making a deal when it was right there for the taking. Sterling strikes again.

It would be fun to have Q back on the team.
Then let's sign Darius too, once he gets out of jail or whatever.

Or if MEM insists on having Jaric in the deal, we could add in Ricky Davis to MEM to save Sterling some more money.

Z-Bo/R. Davis for Jaric/Richardson

I'd gladly like to see QRich/Jaric return if it means getting rid of Ricky Davis.

Grizzlies' owner Michael Heisley has apparently not given GM Chris Wallace his approval for the team to make a lucrative offer to David Lee.

Lee is a restricted free-agent but the Knicks may not match a contract at or near $10 million per season.

There is still hope.
