Is Al Thorton on the Block
Rocket fan here and I was wondering what your team thinks of Thorton and to see if he was on the Block? If he is on the block what would you guys want for him?

No way. However, he could be included in package deal to bring in a star player.

How about Thorton, Telfair, Ricky Davis & a 1st round pick for Battier & Barry?

Re: Is Al Thorton on the Block
why would we need to give up a 1st rounder for Battier? Battier is a great defender but he is far from a star
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

No Thornton isn't on the block. I hope that he shows that he can be a more consistent player this season.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

i am suggesting that we use Minny"s 1st round pick, so it will save us money in the long run.

Yea but chances are high that Minny will still be a lotto team when the pick becomes unprotected.

I agree. I really like Battier and think he'd be the ideal 3 for this team, but it'd be hard for me to agree with giving up a potential top pick in 2012. I know it's hard to forecast what our cap situation will look like 4 years from now (in 2013), but Gordon (either already extended or an rfa) and Griffin will still be on their rookie deals, Kaman will have expired and Baron will be entering his final year with us. We could theoretically have some cap room the following year along with a very high lottery pick and Gordon and Griffin to work with.
Let's say we don't have cap, but we're a playoff team. Adding a lottery level talent to a playoff team is very enticing, (Utah will likely be doing this next summer). Don't get me wrong, If the right deal comes along, then I do it and don't look back. It's just that we have a valuable asset that we need to be wise about.

That pick needs to be valued at nothing less than a top 5 lottery pick. No way do the Clippers consider moving it for Battier. I don't understand the idea that it will save money in the long run given slotted salaries for draft picks.
