Griffin Unlikely to Debut Until January

Coach Mike Dunleavy said it appears as if Griffin probably won't be able to return until after Jan. 1 from the stress fracture in his left kneecap, slightly later than the team had originally hoped.

The power forward is scheduled to undergo X-rays in about 10 days. If doctors are satisfied with the results, Griffin could begin graduated weight-bearing exercises on a special machine.

"The final determination, the way I understand it, is a CT scan, which will show how the bone mends," Dunleavy said. "When that looks like it's really good, that's when he's cleared to do basketball-like activities" that could take up to two weeks before Griffin plays in a game.

"A lot of it depends on him and how he feels once he gets on the court and what he looks like," Dunleavy said.

Well that certainly is a shame. Hopefully Camby can keep up his good play. I think we'll be somewhat okay if we can get EJ back soon and healthy.

You know what I think he wont play until all star break. Seriously!!!!

Thats how Clippers works. They tell you a player will be back in 6 weeks, then he'll have a MRI in 6 weeks, then he'll be back in 8 weeks, then 10 weeks, then what? He'll be back after the season is over.
Danny Granger plays despite the injuries, why can't Griffin? or Gordon?

What a bummer, I just read this on the wire tap. I was hoping he wouldn't be out any extended time

Perhaps it's Dunleavy's plan? The longer players stay off the court, the longer he gets to keep his job since he's not playing with a full healthy roster. So Sterling won't dump his arse until he sees his team play at full potential.

Watch Blake come back when someone else goes down. :P

Hmmm...

A freak injury in pre-season and some informations by the team(about his return) that have been way to optimistic.

Given our medical staff and "luck with injuries" i hope we'll at least get Blake back sometime during his rookie season...

The Examiner reported last week that an inside source told them that Griffin’s return is going to be closer to mid-January rather than the beginning of it.

the worst part is that with our med. staff injuries always take longer than the original date of return. either change the expectations or get a new staff.

Reading those last couple updates about Griffin, i think we'll be lucky to see him back around the All-Star break.

Clippers' Blake Griffin awaiting CT scan
December 11, 2009 | 2:05 pm

Blake_240 It remains unclear when Clippers forward Blake Griffin will get a CT scan, the next required step he has to take in his recovery from a stress fracture in his left knee that has kept him sidelined for all 21 games.

Clippers Coach Mike Dunleavy estimated on Dec. 2 before a loss to the Houston Rockets that Griffin would receive X-rays in 10 days. After Friday's practice, Dunleavy said that isn't the case.

"I think I heard the 16th or 18th, something like that. But I'm not sure," he said. "Don't ask me. Ask the trainers. Ask the medic people. They tell me."

A Clippers spokesman said a date hasn't been set for Griffin's CT scan, which would determine how well he's recovered. A team spokesman also said Griffin hasn't had an MRI since the original diagnosis. The team did not make Griffin available to the media following today's practice.

Griffin initially was expected to miss at least the first six weeks of the season, which began six weeks and three days ago. Dunleavy says Griffin hasn't experienced any setbacks, however, during his recovery process.

"Every test he’s been through has been positive," Dunleavy said. "The CT scan is major radiation. You don’t want to expose the kid to more than one of those. They’re picking the right date."

Griffin has been present at most practices, including today's, and has been limited to elliptical and swimming workouts, stretching and shooting without jumping. Dunleavy says Griffin, who's known for his workaholic tendencies, hasn't tried expediting his recovery.

"He hadn’t overdone it," Dunleavy said. "It was a clearly prescribed deal. Even early on, I don’t think there was something he wasn’t allowed to do. He’s been great. He totally understands what he’s supposed to do and he’s been doing it."

Still no good news.

Dunleavy is a jack@$$ "don't ask me"? This is the number one pick and you are GM and coach but you don't have any info you piece of sh*t.
