The NBA schedule comes out tomorrow and I am still concerned w/ the 3 spot.3 weeks b4 training camp and we still don't have a solid 3. People on this Board think Mcbaby is washed up and we have Faroque and Butler, they aren't good enough.
Nothing against Al & Butler, we NEED someone solid. What about Prince & what would we need to give up? Would DeAndre Jordan & a draft pick be enough.
Where's the 3??

Re: Where's the 3??
Olshey did go out and sign Ryan Gomes like 5 minutes after Lebron announced he was going to Miami. That should probably be a hint towards who the Clippers starting SF will be come opening night.
Trading Jordan for a aging SF for a team who isn't in "win now" mode doesn't make any sense.

Re: Where's the 3??
The players that we have now are almost certain to be the players that we enter into the season with.
We have just under $4.9M in cap space left, so the option of absorbing higher contract players are out of play.
Foye, Gomes, Butler, Smith, Blakely & Cook *shudders* cannot be traded until December 15th.
That would leave us with Kaman, Davis, Gordon, Griffin, Jordan, Bledsoe and Aminu as players that can be moved today. Warren can be traded after Friday.
Butler and Gomes are probably best suited in reserve roles, but both are decent players to have in the rotation. I'm assuming that Butler will spend more time at shooting guard this season depending on the development of Aminu.
I would not have minded seeing us take a chance on McGrady, but something has to be seriously wrong if he's being passed on by team after team despite him being willing to take the minimum. Perhaps It's either his overall health or it's an attitude problem. Maybe he's having issues coming off of the bench. I can only speculate. I feel for him. I used to enjoy watching him play in Orlando, and sucks that he's in the situation that he is in.

Ryan Gomes will be ok, but not a permanent solution. But I also don't expect any more moves before the season starts.

Gomes is a very nice fit for us. Not too expensive, smart, will play hard, can score and defend. Stretch the floor. I'm fine with him.

Re: Where's the 3??
I am hoping and praying that Gomes has a breakout year. As a Season Ticket Holder, I just don't want a repeat of the last 3 years; the personnel not strong enough to make it to the playoffs.
With the current economy and the somewhat questionable Management and player moves at some point I may give up my tickets. Every year, I hope, thinking this will be the year (again) and it quickly goes in the toilet.
I am hoping that year 8 will be a great one, w/Griffin showcasing his skills & B.Diddy being the leader he can be. If the 3 position holds up,we as Clipper fans may be able to see a playoff game or 2 this season.

Re: Where's the 3??
I think we have some solid players at the 3. I don't think we should panic yet, the season hasn't even started yet. We should get a chance to see how Butler, Gomes, and Aminu will play. If they have bad showings in the pre season then we should be concerned.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

With the way things stand now, we can make this trade on December 15th..
Gomes + Butler + Cook for Igoudala

Maybe if the Sixers suck again this season, then they will be willing to make that trade at the deadline.
