Clippers Gauging Interest In Baron

Post#1 » by Det the Threat » Sat Nov 6, 2010 4:30 pm

The Clippers are exploring whether anyone has interest in acquiring point guard Baron Davis via trade, according to a report by Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Los Angeles coach Vinny Del Negro recently criticized the veteran's conditioning and the team won their first game of the season this week with Davis out of the lineup because of a swollen left knee.

Davis has three years and $41.8 million left on his contract, including this season.

At this point he seems untradeable to me. Maybe when he comes back and plays a bit we could get someone to bite but right now I dont think so. I would quite like to see Kaman shipped off as well. Possibly Kaman to 76ers or Pistons?

Stuckey is in the doghouse and had an arguement with their coach so maybe Pistons would take Baron and Kaman?

Who are the teams that need a pg? Seems like a short list. I don't think anyone will want Baron. The Clippers could move him to WA for Agent 0. MAYBE you could move him to the Raptors for Calderon and junk?

To Det: http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=5726987

To Orl: http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=5726991

To Phi: http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=5726997

Bottomline: not a big chance Kaman AND BD will be traded to the same team. Don't know if we would be helped much by getting Stuckey.

Nah we really would be worse with Stuckey. A little fact, Stuckey had a TS% of 48% last year compared to Baron's 50%. Which is pretty mindblowing.

I think the Clippers are screwed! I think there should be a provision in the "NEW" Collective Bargaining that allows for teams to dump players who don't put in an effort.
This is the third year that Baron has said he worked hard, then admitted he didn't & he is never penalized?? I say let him back up Wall in Washington & we will take the Gunslinger. The Clips are going to EAT a bad Contract anyway, why not have someone (ARENAS) that might have something to prove?

Thanks Baron once again, you truly are an A$$WHOLE!

I have a feeling that Baron could be gone in the near future, it may not be this season because of his contract. If Bledsoe continues to play well Baron won't be a part of our future. I'm sticking with what I said before let's see how things play out and if by the all star break this season is going no where we can really explore trading Kaman and Baron.

I still say give it time, we are 6 games in. Kaman is just off and Baron has been hurt/out of shape. I don't think it's time to trade players after the first week and a half of the season.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Det: I don't like to receive Hamilton(and I don't see him fitting with us) if we're trading Kaman with Baron.
I'd rather go for something like this.

Orl: That contract Lewis got is just flat out horrible and i'd rather keep Baron than add him, especially if we're trading Kaman alongside Baron.

Phi: I really like this one. They seem to be ready to make some changes and Iggy seems like the odd man out. They'd get a solid center(which they're lacking) in Kaman and we'd get Iggy and some change/cap space.

Another team you forgot might be Charlotte. They're pretty bad at center and their pg combo isn't all that great as well. They also have Larry Brown(who thinks to be able to turn around every pg in this league) coaching and added salary over the last couple of years.

Maybe something like this could be possible.
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=5727066

Mohamed's expiring, Diaw's contract will be up in 2012 and Augustin is still on his rookie contract.

BTW: You're probably right about Kaman and Baron being moved to the same team, but I still feel that Kaman's the guy we've got to add, to get rid of Baron. It would be pretty tough to get one team, that adds them both, which means that at it would've to be at least a 3 team trade, to trade Baron(and Kaman).

I just do not see how you guys move Baron without throwing in something of value (possibly Kaman). It seems like "B Diddy" spent another summer more involved in non basketball related activities. It seems as if he plays best (like many athletes) when it's contract time. For the sake of your franchise, I hope his bad habits do no rub off on your young players.

Pistons trade: I doubt they would give up Daye

Magic trade: Doesnt really makes sense for them since they have Nelson and Rashard is horrible.

Sixers trade: I like the idea of pursuing Iggy but Thaddeus Young i dont think they'll give up.

We can trade Baron to SacTown for Udrih and Jason Thompson, bothe have small 2yr contracts. Thompson can play Center(they have enuff). Them Kaman to either Detroit or Dallas for Prince(Det) or C. Butler, both expiring contracts this year. May have to give up a first to Sac to make it interesting.

It's kind of like Eric Pincus said, "a headline saying Baron Davis is on the block is like a headline saying people breathe air."

I'm not too optimistic that we could move him right now without loading up useless junk in return. Many may say, we already have that with Baron. I even thought about if traded for Arenas and his gargantuan contract, but saw that it was an extra year and that killed that thought.

I would take just about anything to get rid of Baron Davis. I don't think any team is dumb enough to trade for this bum though. His contract needs to be terminated so he can go follow Jessica Alba's husband around and make crappy documentaries.

I'll take anything at this point. The only team that I could seriously see interested in him is the Bobcats and maybe a playoff team down the stretch that has a point guard problem. The Hawks might be interested too but they're undefeated so that doesn't help us.

Most teams do have younger or better prospects at PG so I think it would have to be just a trade of bad contracts. I like the Arenas idea, he's younger, actually likes working out, hometown guy and spreads the floor for Kaman and Griffin. Wizards probably do the trade straight up without any picks having to be included because Baron would give them savings. LAC has to think hard about taking on a much larger contract but it fits better teamwise and the Clips have had a hard time luring players in free agency anyway.
Better option might just be hoping there's a "Baron Davis Rule" in the next CBA or eating the contract until it's an expiring but as far as a current trade goes, I think Gil fits.

Pistons would probably offer something like this http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5728633 or Maybe Tayshaun Instead of Rip.

No way the Pistons would trade Stuckey or Daye.
