Mo Williams

Post#1 » by RiversideClips » Fri Dec 16, 2011 10:27 pm

Let me state that I have probably been the hardest of all Regulars in this Forum concerning Mo Williams. I so feel for the guy right now.
Mo stuck around in the sumer & worked out w/ Blake & DJ and was focusing on becoming the Floor General & Team Leader. Ironic what 48 hours can do to someone's future; you know Mo has got to be pissed. I think besides a BIG, Mo is going to be so important to our team!
W/ Bledsoe out, I think that Mo could be the 6th Man of the Year ( yes, you heard me right,) Mo is more of a #2 Guard & I think he will flourish playing w/ guys in the Back Court who are better than him. I just hope that he doesn't get to discouraged and let his emotions screw w/ his game.
I think this is the time we need Mo more than ever & yes, I am hoping that he is an ultimate Team Player and excels in what he is asked to do.
In fact, I may even bring a "Way 2 Mo" sign & flash it from Sec. 302!

seriously, i think mo will be the 6th man too... we have, hands down, the best back court rotation in the NBA for this short season. We have up to 4 STARTERS in our back court, and with this short season keeping them injury free and rested is a key to our success.

We do need a big though, and if it comes down to it, mo would probably be the trade piece to make it happen and that would def suck =\

mo seems like a nice dude but i don't think he'll stay on this roster for more than a season. i read the 'state of the roster' thread and the general consensus seems to be that the team still needs to add a big 2 guard that can stretch the floor and play defense for 20-25 minutes a night. with bledsoe, warren, and leslie all somewhat being small scoring guards like mo, he's kind of the odd man out of the picture, especially when you consider his contract and age. imo there are a lot of factors working against him staying here long-term.

i don't know. i'm sure a lot of it will depend on how everything plays out this season as well. i think the clippers already have the pieces to be competitive but this season is still kind of a gelling period for the team. there's also the question of whether billups wants to come back or not. it's looking unlikely at this point but if the team plays well enough, his family takes a liking to the city, and sterling is willing to fork up money for a big 2-year deal, it's not totally out of the question.

Its unfortunate if we do let him go, I like his game. i like it even better now than he can be a huge role player/6th man off the bench, now we've got this guy who can provide instant offence and leadership off the bench without having one of those bench PG's that may let the game slip a little.. he's a starter we all know that but if he can keep his head... he'll be dominant as a 6th man I believe... I hope we keep him and find another way to get a big man

Mo is a cool player, and offensively his game helps the team, but defense is what will make the Clippers a very good - great team. Looking into the future, Mo Williams just doesn't fit into this team.

Chris Paul is the PG starter of course, Billups will likely start at the 2 as of now, and Mo Williams will come off the bench as their main backup. When Bledsoe returns though, and considering that Mo is making $8.5 million / year, he's obviously not a guy one would keep as a backup PG, not to mention that he won't want to return to the team for a limited role.

In addition, he's not a SG. His defense is mediocre enough at PG, not to talk of playing him against guys that are much bigger than him. To me the best thing is to play him now as the 6th man, but look to move him sooner than later as his value likely decreases as time goes on.

I think Mo is the perfect 6th man for us. But like you guys have said because of his age and contract he won't be with us long term. Who knows if he really wants to stay with us now based on all the moves we made. I'm sure he is OK to stay with us for now, but I'm sure we will do something with him in the near future.

I like him of of the bench, but the back court is kind of small. I would try to trade him for a expiring contract.
