Kenyon Martin

Post#1 » by LOJ » Thu Dec 22, 2011 5:13 pm

" Kenyon Martin is no longer with the Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association, but he will not be able to play in the NBA until he receives a letter of clearance from FIBA, which won’t happen until the team’s season is over, Yahoo! Sports reports.
The CBA instituted a rule this season prohibiting out-clauses in contracts with NBA players. Based on this report, FIBA is holding players to that rule. The Chinese league’s playoffs run into March, so that’s the earliest Martin is expected to be back in the NBA. " - Credit: Sporting News

The guy is still in China, and can't come back here until March. But he is absolutely what the Clippers need coming off the bench. He is the tough big that grabs rebounds and gets in players faces, giving the team more identity as a tough team. He also loves energizing his teammates, the guy is the piece the Clippers are missing from truly being contenders.

Paul/Mo/Bledsoe
Billups/Mo/Foye
Butler/Gomes
Griffin/Martin
Jordan/Evans

I'd be confident going to war with that team.

How much money would he cost? Do you think his Body & head are in game/playoff shape? Kmart has always been a little uncontrolable, unless you're Bob Huggins

He can't come over until mid-to-late February at the earliest. We need to keep our $2.5M available for the players coming over from China imo. They'll probably join up with some contenders. I could see Chandler heading back to the Knicks even if only for the rest of the season.

After his injury K-Mart has never been the same, but his presence is just the type we need when teams decide to play bully ball. As far as I know his health shouldn't be an issue. He is coming over in March and will have some fresh legs, ready for the playoffs. He is an energizer, a good rebounder in the limited minutes he plays now in his career, and is always hype as hell. He also has a decent mid-range pop he likes to utilize at times, he is my must-have before the playoffs.

Get it done!

K-Mart is old and could be a locker room problem. His game is built on athleticism and he has none left. Pretty much a net negative all the way around. Also +1 to Thompkins development. It's super early but dude might be a gamer.

I honestly don't think we will get him and if we were to get him I wouldn't want to wait till March.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

We can't afford to wait out that long for some bigs and the PF spot is pretty much handled with Thompkins, Cook, Evans and Gomes.
