I know it's not cool to be down on Blake, but man... watching him whine to the refs after every no call, hold the ball while he decides what to do and ultimately makes the wrong choice, or walks down court with the mouth piece hanging out after a dunk is already getting old. I know we keep saying we won't trade Blake for Howard, but why not? He's 26, has never sat out a year because of injury, is a 4 time DPOY winner... both suck at free throws... why not?
My biggest question would be, how would Dwight and DeAndre fit? Maybe pair it with this trade and have one hell of a front line?

Obviously you got to consider it any time you can get possibly the 2nd best player in the NBA. D12 is the best defensive player in the NBA I don't think that is a level Blake will ever come close to be at. However since the Magic are the ones in the tough spot you also have to get Anderson from them in the trade imo. And obviously since Clipps need a SG you also have to look at a Redick or Richardson in a trade.

Re: Blake for D12?
i dunno tommy... D12 seems set to test the FA and we have griffin under contract for 1 more year plus his RFA rights so probably 5 to 6 years from now on. D12 is clearly the better player no doubt, but i want guaranteed player on this clipper rafter. i do however, like the other trade and wouldn't hesitate to bring in smoove and Tmac for DJ. it would piss off griffin and we end up very small, but griffin playing center and going against slower centers he could take them off dribble would be nice, and smoove will fill in nicely at the 4 spot, and tmac rolling into his old position at starting 2. i like it for this season as much as i like rayray. i just don't see DJ becoming more than an average rebounder for his size and exceptional blocker with no upside in his offensive or defensive game.
ehhhhh f it.

Re: Blake for D12?
Griffin already struggles when he has to play against someone taller than he is, so I don't know if he can handle playing C in the half court. As for Howard, everything we have heard has him wanting to go to a big market. He has never played with a PG like CP3, so being in the big city with a top point guard, he would have everything he has always wanted, with the exception of CA state taxes!

I don't think it can be done without adding in Mo. Griffin is still playing under his rookie contract, so he doesn't make enough to bring in more players. Besides, you have a team starting CP3, Butler, Josh Smith and Howard, do you think we will have ANY issues finding FAs that will sign for less to play with us? We might not win the title this year, but long time fans like Neddy and I can tell you, waiting one more year is no problem at all!

True you would have to include Mo to acquire 1 or both of their shooting guards. However Ryan Anderson safely fits into one of the trade exceptions Clippers got from the CP3 trade so he doesn't need to count in the incoming salary of the Dwight trade if its done in a separate trade for a trade exception. Also Since the Magic aren't getting anything else close to Blake I wouldn't include Bledsoe. It works with just Blake, Foye and Gomes for Dwight and Anderson in a separate trade for a trade exception.

Then you have trade options afterwords with Jordan, Bledsoe and Mo as assets.

If they would do this trade, I would be one happy Clippers fan. I might even start crying and call myself Clipper Tommy! I'd still do the DeAndre for Josh Smith trade, but I'll admit to being biased, he's been my favorite current player since the game he started at SG and had 9 blocks, either his rookie or sophomore year

you got that right! i really do think that next year once we get rid of VInny Del Zero and hire a real coach and coaching staff, possibly the training staff too, including jason powell and hire PHO staff who's been keeping nash and hill upright all these years, amnesty gomes, make a deal to sign rayray for 2 year deal under 8 mil per with the caproom we'll have after gomes+foye+cookie are gone, then resign billups+kmart+simmons+evans then our roster would look like
CP3--Billups----bledsoe
rayray-billups---bledsoe----leslie(5 men guards)
caron--simmons (2men SF tandem)
blake--Kmart--thompkins
DJ-----Kmart---evans (5 men bigs)
sign another winger and 13 men active roster is set.
if Mo picks up his option and not test the FA, that would be lethal. championship caliber team for sure.
ehhhhh f it.

It's hard for me to even think about trading Blake, we have to remember he is the reason this team has been on the rise. CP3 wanted to come play here because of him. Sometimes u have to keep certain players to keep your stars happy, Blake and Paul would not be happy if DJ got traded. We need a big man coach to come in and work with both DJ and Blake.

I'm with krazy. Howard is better than Blake. No doubt. Maybe lots better, maybe better than Blake will ever be. Blake is our guy. The guy we always needed. It's truely amazing we went 30 years without getting a true #1 overall Superstar type guy. We finally got one and everything is falling into place. No way I trade that for anything. I can also argue that Blake has more trade value than any player in the league!

I don't know about you guys but Im all about staying with YOUR star franchise player. I love Griffin being our franchise guy, I love building around him. I personally don't get you complaining about his whining or whatever. He's still so raw and young, you gotta remember that, he's progressed amazingly but doesn't take away the fact that he's only in his 2nd year of playing. He will continue to improve and that means with everything you've mentioned about making the wrong decisions.
No, Id keep Griffin.

Most of us have gone in depth with this. Griffin is more valuable with his potential and rookie contract than Dwight.

Re: Blake for D12?
Dwight is going to be a FA no matter what team he goes to, I wouldn't want to take the chance on that. In addition, you'd have to give up more than just Blake due to contracts in order to acquire Howard.
The trade would be something in the mold of Blake and DJ, though in that case, one would then insist on getting Ryan Anderson back to full the PF spot. The Magic would then start saying they can't do that, and wanting to dump a bad contract or something, etc, etc.
But outside of those issues, I think an even bigger issue here is that you don't trade a superstar who is happy with your team and producing well for you in a scenario like this. The purpose is just so that you can build your rep as a team players would want to go to, not as a team who will toss players as trade fodder when anything slightly better comes along.
