Simmons To Sign 2nd 10-Day Contract With Clippers By Friday

The Clippers intend on signing Bobby Simmons to a second 10-day contract before they play the Spurs on Friday.

Simmons has played significant minutes behind Caron Butler at small forward.

"I think Bobby has done a really good job for us," Vinny Del Negro said. "He's been very professional. He's done everything that we've asked. It's not surprising. He's a quality person, quality player. We're just fortunate to have him."

When Simmons' second 10-day contract ends, the Clippers will have to sign him for the rest of the season or release him.

"Words don't even explain it," Simmons said. "This is a great opportunity to play basketball again at this level."

Just sign this guy for the rest of the season already. He's already proven more worth to us in just 10 days than Gomes ever has in one and a half years. If anyone should be released, it should be Gomes. Or Cook

Gomes makes too much to get released, and no comment on Cook, just no comment on him.

I knew Simmons would get another 10-day contract. He's been our best SF lately. I do hope Caron steps it up and get's his act together. Not sure what's going on with him.

Glad management did this with Gomes/Butler playing like trash.

We may need a roster spot though if we trade our TPE and get a player back.

I wonder who'd they cut. I'm guessing it would be Simmons since his contract is not guaranteed but would they cut Cook and eat his salary?

I like that Simmons has 10 more days, w/ the Trade Deadline in less than a week, it allows us to explore trades.
I find it strange that Bobby likes being in a Clipper uni.

I think he would like to be in any NBA uni at this point :lol:

It is kind of funny that past Clippers have somewhat alluded to it not being so bad. Lamar was rumored to want to be bought out and come back to the Clippers. Ron Harper said of the 2 LA teams that his heart was with the Clippers. These are 2 players that alluded to their experiences as jail or they begged for the team not to match.
