This isn't looking good now
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Why'd Blake foul there? There was time left to get stops. Warriors have struggled to score through the whole 4th

GSW was draining from outside early in the game while we were driving in more. They also intentionally fouled us a few times. Disparity or not, it's not that ridiculous given the nature of how this game was played.

refs have been their usual clown selves, but we gave this one away. we didn't show enough energy early and dug too deep of a hole. I am worried about tomorrow's match against the celts.
ehhhhh f it.

Valiant effort from Evans and Bledsoe to spark the comeback. A couple of bad calls didn't go our way, but it would not have even been an issue if we hit our foul shots. You can never afford to miss 16. It could have also been different if at least one of Mo or Butler had a solid game.

Re: Game 39: L.A. Clippers(23-15) vs. G.S. Warriors(16-21)
Yea, the FT disparity isn't because the Clippers were getting more calls than they should have, it's just because of the difference in how the two teams were playing and a little intentional fouling added to the mix.mkwest wrote:SinJackal wrote:

Well, good job fighting back, a little Reggie and Bledsoe earlier in the game might have helped

Re: Game 39: L.A. Clippers(23-15) vs. G.S. Warriors(16-21)
We came up just short in this one. We just weren't showing much of anything during the beginning of the game. Our defense was really poor until Bledsoe and Evans sparked it in the 4th. This game could have turned out differently if we would have hit more free throws and it wasn't just Blake missing them tonight. We now trail the Lakers in the standings and have to play the Celtics tomorrow now. Hope the guys are ready and we can have others step up again.

That doesn't change the fact that they got way more favorable calls throughout the game and weren't being called for fouls in the 4th until right at the end (and those were basically hacks). When you have 23 FTAs to 3 in a half, you can't complain about calls in the 2nd half especially when you weren't getting less FTs in that half either. That's all I'm saying.
I complain about calls too (as all fans do), but not when my team's clearly been getting them throughout the game and barely getting any against them. I just hope it's close to 50/50 and call it a day. You can't complain about calls because it wasn't 80/20 instead of 75/25. You know? Not sure how much more someone could realistically expect.
Anyway, was an interesting game. The Clippers near comeback was fun to watch.

If they miss a call when the game is on the line, then of course I'm not going to be happy with a missed call. I tend to trip less about early calls, because they don't matter as much if your team is in the game in the closing moments. Missed/bad calls at the end are worse because there is less time to recover.
I know that refs are going to miss calls for both teams on any given night. The disparity can make one fanbase upset if it isn't in their favor, but if there are legitimate reasons for that disparity (e.g. techs, intentional fouls, attacking as opposed to shooting, etc.), then those percentages don't really matter. A missed call is a missed call.

Re: Game 39: L.A. Clippers(23-15) vs. G.S. Warriors(16-21)
Making moves isn't always the solution. To be honest, the biggest change right now for the Clippers is a better coach that can put out a top 5-10 defense, but that has to weight till the off-season. The ability to make moves right now is limited to short term moves that won't produce a championship squad. Patience is needed.
As much frustration as there is, this is a .600+ winning team after more home games are played, and likely to finish the season. One needs to put things in perspective when considering new players, poor coach, no real training camp, third best player injured.

Michael Eaves talking about "bums" and naked girls during the break
LOL
He needs to listen a recording of some soothing rain when he goes to bed.
If we do make a move, I think we need to consider using one of our trade exceptions. I know that isn't likely going to make a serious enough move to greatly improve the team, but I think it is a better option than moving some of our other players (i.e. Bledsoe, Mo or Foye). Bledsoe is clearly the most attractive trade asset that we have right now, but his value is pretty low atm. He has a long way to go in terms of improvement that may be achieved, but he can have a positive effect in a game as he showed tonight. He has had limited minutes since returning, but the team has played well while he has been on the floor. Instead of trading him away for what is likely to be a 20-30 game rental, we ought to keep him and see what we have in him.

Re: Game 39: L.A. Clippers(23-15) vs. G.S. Warriors(16-21)
I think Bledsoe has some of that intrigue value. Teams see an athletic PG that can defend and has the ability to bring a different energy to a game and make a difference. For the development and potential hungry GMs, his value is higher than his numbers suggest. If he plays more and the improvements aren't seen, his value decreases because the mystique of potential goes away. If he plays more and improves, well then his value increases even further, but you don't want to trade him (unless the right offer comes along of course).
That's always the plight of a team trying to be a very good team, but also having youth. One has to gauge whether to keep a young guy or not, and it's the things you see in practice and the little things you see in games that will determine that.

He does spark a bit of intrigue from other GM's, but I feel that it doesn't really benefit us. Teams are "willing" to give us a player that will probably not even be on their team any longer come July regardless of if they make a trade or not. We're not talking about getting players back that have long term value. There is a possibility that he doesn't improve in the direction that people are hoping for and loses the interest that GM's in the league have for him. I still think there is quite a bit of time for him to prove himself before he gets to that point. I wouldn't jump the gun in trading him, unless the return was going to seriously catapult this team's efforts much higher than it would if he were on the roster. Marginal improvement isn't worth it imo.
