"I can't me this up, I'm focused now"
That's very good to hear, I'm hoping we see a guy that's more committed to defense, doing the little things, and to playing more of a team game on offense. He should really help with that type of mentality.

Re: Nick Young is a Clipper!!
Any chance he re-signs for maybe the MLE this offseason? Sounds like he loves being back in LA.
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

Re: Nick Young is a Clipper!!
I'm so happy to have him and I know he's happy to be back. I'm sure Nick will do his best to fit in, try hard, and be a team player.
I know DC doesn't have Jack in the Box but Cmon, I think there's better places than that. How about In-n-Out?

I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I think he can get more than MLE elsewhere. Hopefully he'll take MLE and being at home than taking a little more away from home and possibly with a losing team.

Interesting article with some clips to sho the difference mainly in Mo Williams and Nick Youngs defense.
I knew Mo Williams was one of the teams worst defenders (some of it is not ha fault and just due to playing SG a lot), but I hadn't looked at the situational defense areas. He's pretty poor. The most disappointing has been Caron Butler, though I mentioned when he was signed that he was never a stopper and never more than an average defensive player, but he's kinda worse now.
As much as he can be hated on, DJ has been the teams best overall defender this season along with Bledsoe.
The good defenders have been: DJ, Bledsoe, Reggie and Kenyon
Average-Good: Blake, Paul
Bad-Below Average: Butler, Foye, Mo, and for similar reasons to Mo, Billups when he was playing
Since Chauncey Billups’ season-ending injury, the Clippers’ level of performance has dropped, due in large part to a decline at defensive end. One of their most frequently used lineups (Chris Paul, Mo Williams, Caron Butler, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan) is also one of the worst defensive lineups in the league. In fact, among the 36 lineups in the NBA with over 150 minutes played, this unit is the worst defensively, by far. The Clippers traded for Nick Young at the trade deadline to fill a void at the starting shooting guard position. Young has a reputation as an offense-only, gunner-without-a-conscience, but he might be able to help fix their defensive problems as well.

LOL Blake belongs in the below average tier and you know it. When did Jordan become a good defender? Just because he gets blocks? He is a horrible man to man defender who jumps on every fake.

Re: Nick Young is a Clipper!!
This is relative to the team just so you are aware.
Interestingly enough, Blake has not been one of the worst defenders on the team overall, he's been average, definitely not good. Paul is the good one there. Last season he was quite awful, but his post defense this season has been pretty good, though most people just assume that it is still bad. He's also generally able to handle his own when switched out to perimeter players, though his isolation defense hasn't been as good this season as last season where it was great. His worst area from what I've seen is that he is extremely lazy in closing out on shooters, he does what I call the fake / casual close out. He's truly beyond bad in that, and terrible in his 3PT defense, just plain terrible. He needs a coach that is going to hammer him about that. Though I will say that he has been much more lackadaisical on defense in the last month or so and was more active earlier in the season.
DJ has his issues, but in the end, having length and a shot blocking presence vs having no length and no shot blocking presence is just too much of a factor. He jumps too much, and he'll commit silly fouls, but when he isn't doing that, he's very effective. The issue with him is that he isn't consistently able to produce defensively. Still, in the end, he is a shot blocking and altering presence, and he is still a fairly good rebounder, so his presence on the court ends up being a positive for the Clippers defensively. Man to man though, he's been very good, one of the best in the league at his position, and that is including that fact that he will jump if you pump fake (some guys haven't figured that out). He's also one of the best guys on the team at closing out effectively on guys spotting up

No not just because he gets blocks, but he plays good positional defense and our defense isnt the same without him.

Aight so how many of y'all want Mo back next season?
Is Nick Young worth keeping long term?
What should the Clippers do with whatever money they have or could have next season? (If Mo leaves or whether or not the team decides to use the amnesty on Gomes)

yo what up poz! long time no see brother!
for me, i choose nick over mo. nick young has the size and defense to play 2 guard position while retaining Mo's shooting touch.

We should throw that money at Young, bring back Foye/Billups/Evans for one more yr then find feasible replacements for Gomes/Martin in free agency this summer.

Re: Nick Young is a Clipper!!
1. Hire a coach (Maybe D'Antoni)
Could be the right fit with the pieces the Clippers have in place.
2. Amnesty Mo Williams (this would create 6.2 million in cap space)
Its tough to cut such a productive player and great guy but this move would allow the Clippers greater flexibilty while making sure they stay under the luxury tax.
3. Sign Young for 5 million per year (4 year deal)
Clippers might also take a look at Ray Allen with this money, it might be a tough call for them. Nick Young is 10 years younger and still has upside, but Ray is more of a money shooter. I think Ray would love to play for D'Antoni. I think either Nick Young or Ray Allen will be the starting SG next year for the Clippers.
4. Sign Billups for 2 million (1 year deal)
He is valuable and is good friends with CP. He would back up both guard spots, start or play all his minutes at SG while Young moves to SF and Bledsoe could come in to the game to speed things up. D'Antoni loves to go small and run.
5. Sign Odom for 2.5 million room exception (2 year deal)
He desperatly wants to come back home. Lakers would only have the 3 million mini MLE to offer LO, but they are way over the luxury tax. Clippers offer is pretty damn close. I was always curious to see a unique player such as Odom play in D'Antoni's system.
6. Fill the remaining roster spots with minimmum contracts.
The rotation:
PF-Griffin 36 mpg
SF-Butler 33
C-Jordan 30
PG-Paul 36
SG/SF-Young 33
PF-Odom 30
SG-Billups 30
PG-Bledsoe 12
9. Gomes
10. Thompkins
11.Leslie
12, 13, 14 would be minimum contract free agents
Estimated salry would be 69 million, just under the luxury tax threshold.
Could be the right fit with the pieces the Clippers have in place.

I prefer nick, billups, evans and martin. I still think we need another big. Jj hickson looked very impressive last night. We sure could use the flexibility if mo opts out and we either trade or amnesty gomes. Would be perfect to trade for a pick and retain some cap space.

I like the idea of bringing L-O back to a winning Clipper team. Plus he fits right in there with a 2nd unit of Bledsoe/Billups/Evans.

A stud defensive coach that can run a competent offense is all that is needed with guys like Chris Paul and Blake Griffin on your team. A defensive coach does a whole lot more for the Clippers in the post-season than a Mike D'Antoni does
