Interesting, more to come about what the Clippers may get in return.

UPDATE:

Brooklyn has agreed to a 3-year, $5M sign-and-trade for Reggie Evans, sources tell Y! The Clippers will get a distant future 2nd round pick.

3 years/$5M at ~$1.6M per. Clips get a future 2nd rounder in return. I'm going to miss Reggie.

Jesus man. Our off season has been terrible so far without olshey. Trade away our fan favorite and best rebounder in the nba. Try to sign a older, smaller version of nick young for a longer deal. Smh

It was unlikely that we were going to bring Reggie back in the first place. The fact that we managed to get a 2nd rounder in return is a (small) bonus. Reggie was able to get slightly more than the minimum by the S&T. Clips also get a small TPE.

It is a mistake to let Evans go. He meant a lot to this team off the bench. He always hustled, played solid D, was very tough, and rebounded. He is more useful to the team than Jordan.

They should have matched Brooklyn's offer.

Yeah, trading Reggie Evans was the final nail in the coffin. I'll miss Reggie but he was a double-edged sword. Brought rebounding + good hustle on D, but nothing on offense + fouls galore.

Also, a TPE is always valuable.

The team needs to fit CP3's needs & Reggie doesn't fit it. We need more mins for LO and I hope Trey develops soon

Well if we weren't going to bring Reggie back, if we got something for him in a trade thats a good thing.

Letting go is hard, but one has to learn to do so. The team didn't want to play a 6'8 guy at C anymore, and with the addition of Odom, there were no PF minutes available for Reggie. You know the team would have discussed his role with him and how much was available to offer him etc, and of course Reggie is a guy that wants about 20 mins and doesn't like DNP's, so it was best for both parties.

I like Reggie for what he is, but if he was starting and playing 28 MPG at C, you would like him a lot less.

It just seems his value was more than that salary. We're talking peanuts for a real hustle guy.

If he was determined to leave due to minutes crunch that's one thing, but guys like this do not have to be moved just because of minutes logjam. He would play anyway over the course of the season with injuries, back to backs, etc.

Let's just look at the numbers guys.

April: 9 mins, 5 DNP's
Post All-Star: 12 mpg over 30 games (compare to 16 mpg before)

Playoffs: lots of minutes against Memphis, back to about 12 MPG against San Antonio.

Reggie didn't have a consistent role and wasn't getting minutes. If signing Reggie hampers the team from getting a big with size because they would go over luxury, and be paying a lot more for Reggie's contract than the books say because of tax penalties, then it isn't worth it. As it is right now, the team will be right at the border of luxury after signings.

..but it isn't just a team issue, it's also a Reggie wanting more consistent minutes and a more consistent role. He's a garbage man, but he isn't and doesn't see himself as a scrub and wants to at least get on the floor. He didn't play for 40% of the games in the last month of the season, and even though he got minutes in the post-season, he isn't naieve enough to not realize that that was situational and that over 82 games he might end up with 10-15 DNP's as a Clipper and 8-12 MPG when he does play.

For that price I would rather keep Reggie. Sure he wants minutes and ideally we won't have them for him, but as a 3rd stringer for the next 3 years at the price he is ideal IMO. I heard the deal isn't final yet. Hopefully we are working on keeping Reggie.

I think it is a would Reggie rather keep the Clippers, as there is really nothing preventing him from leaving except if he wants to stay. If the guys can somehow convince him, then it would be nice. Might be a hard task though.
