Eric Bledsoe is a TANK

Post#1 » by LEHGOCELTICS » Sun Oct 7, 2012 5:06 am

As a Boston fan, I really envy that you guys have this guy. Mini-LeBron essentially. Get a new coach, (SVG, anyone?) ane Clippers are a lock for at least Western conference finals imo. This Clippers team is deep as hell. I have no freaking clue why Clippers management continues to employ this inept scrub Del Negro. There is a reason that Chicago leapfrogged into relevance after this fool was fired.

Vinny does have use in attracting players to the team. Let's see what he does this season, not like he jnderachieved with the team last season, so there was no actual reason to fire him.

Bledsoe certainly looks improved in a lot of offensive areas. It's one game in pre-season (though competitive), so I won't get overly excited, but its good to see him play well.

Bledsoe reminds me of a cross between Allen Iverson/Russell Westbrook and LeBron. I think with his supreme quickness and strength, freakish 6-9 wing span and unbelievable athleticism, he could be a starting SG in the NBA for at least the next 10 years. I would think he gets at least 24mpg this season and will average 10ppg/3.5rpg/3apg/1.5spg. Next season he probably will take over as the starting SG and get like 15ppg/5rpg/4apg/2.5spg and be in the running for DPOY. Then he will be a restricted free agent, where some team might offer him 10-12 million per year.

It's very early, but Bledsoe has shown that he can be a player of reasonable impact in this league. His defense and athleticism are the most promising aspects of his game. Offensively, his speed is going to get him by. He needs to continue to progress as a playmaker as well as improve his shooting. The better he gets in those areas, then higher his price tag will be :( Until that time comes, I'm going to enjoy watching him play.

I don't think he has the height to be a starting SG. He is too good of a player to take over the old Vinnie Johnson role of 3rd guard, he should be starting, but his contract is way too low to include in a trade

It's more about length and weight/strength than height because shots are contested with your arms, not your head. He has an 8'2 standing reach and a 6'7.5 wingspan. It's low for a SG, but not terrible. For example, EJ has an 8'3 standing reach and so does Ben Gordon, both who are or have been starting NBA SG's.

Reddick with his gator arms has an 8'1.5 standing reach, but that's a big part of why he's not nearly as good an NBA player as he was in college. Jodie Meeks, 8'2, Avery Bradley 8'2.5, Marcus Thornton, 8'3, Delonte West 8'3.5, OJ Mayo 8'3.5

Monta Ellis also has an 8'2 standing reach. So yes, he will be undersized, but not anymore than the other small SG's, and he's as strong as the strongest ones (EJ and BG), and as athletic as them.

That's 8 guys who are currently in the NBA and are starting or have started, and Avery Bradley is even a good comparison in terms of defensive type player wise, but Bled is stronger, though Avert does play next to a very lengthy PG in Rondo.

If the team is that worried, bring back Livingston after his contract with Houston is done and play him as a PG/SG and he can guard SG's. I'm not serious about this btw, not enough 3PT shooting

Ebled is solid as a rock but hopefully he can improve on his pg skills i.e. passing/ball handling just in case Paul gets injured or misses any games.

Lucky for him though, the team has Crawford, who, while he isn't a PG himself can share playmaking duties with Bled if Paul was to suffer and injury.

I think this is Bledsoe's break out year, he is so fast, sneaky & good on "D!" Hopefully he can improve his handles and we will be fearless in the back court ALL game long!

He was jumping to pass too much last game when not needed, ie, out on the perimeter and was getting himself in trouble. Missed abou three spot up shots in a row, so hopefully it was just a bad stretch. Still needs to work on decreasing those turnovers though.
