Paul Pierce...still a possibility.

He will either get traded or bought out by June 30. If he does get bought out, you have believe he'll be interested in coming home. And the league can't block a free agent from signing where he chooses right?

Of course if the C's decide not to appease him and get whatever assets they can in return, then all this is moot.

According to an Eric Pincus post:

To add to this, the league can site collusion between both teams as there is an ongoing relationship between PP and Doc.

However, he later stated that even though that was the case, the league won't have a concrete justifiable cause in stopping this signing (although they can in principle).

He would be a great addition, but I'm not getting my hopes up at this point. The Celtics have 5 more days to move him before being forced to make a decision. There are a few rumors out there right now like Cleveland for a pair of 2nd rounders or to Dallas for Marion, the pick and filler. I see Dallas' perspective, but don't buy it for Cleveland. If the Cavs' goal is to make the playoffs, then it would probably happen with Pierce health permitting. The problem is that it wouldn't be sustainable. There's no point in being a playoff team for a year, missing out on what could be a great draft (lottery) and then hoping that a free-agent will join in 2014 so that you can pick up where you left off imo.

looks like PP will end up in cleveland. if pierce actually gets bought out instead, i would fully expect our FOs to trade for afflalo and sport a roster of

CP
Afflalo
PP
Blake
DJ
jamal
willie

if boston doesn't release PP but in fact trade him to cleveland, then we could potentially hang on to bled as our starting 2 guard and have

CP
Bled
Caron
Blake
DJ
Jamal
willie
barnes---resigned

we could still make a move and grab afflalo without PP coming, which case should look like

CP
Afflalo
Barnes
Blake
DJ
Jamal
willie

which lineup do you fellas like?
ehhhhh f it.

^ none of the above. Prefer a lineup without DJ. Still hoping the KG deal can go through somehow.
