We just resigned Barnes for 3years/11-12 million. Hopefully 11 million, that would mean we still have about 1.65 million to use on free agent. Good bye Carl Landry though :-(

I'm happy we got Barnes back, someone remind me what Willie Green's contract is?

surely we can trade him for a decent backup PF?

I really don't want to rely on getting Odom cause we only have 1.65 mil left. This could be bad.

We still have Odom's bird rights, but would likely only sign him to the minimum.

Here our options outside of the minimum:

    - Approximately $1.65M left of the MLE

    - Reggie Evans' $1.62M TPE that we could use to pick up someone cheap or complete a sign and trade. (TPE expires 7/11/13)

    - The other option is to package DaJuan Summers and Maalik Wayns together in a trade for an incoming value up to $2.7M. They are unguaranteed and the receiving team could just waive them afterward.

That doesn't help in regards to Landry, because GSW can no longer S&T because they don't have his bird rights anymore. It can open a door elsewhere though.

Can't we also trade Grant Hill's contract?

If this is true why couldn't we have given Landry the full MLE and then convinced a team to help us by S&T Barnes to us for Summers and Wayns? We'd give them a 2nd round pick or two for their troubles and move on with both Barnes and Landry. Am I missing something or would this have actually worked out?

I'm just really pissed that we missed out on Landry. The more I think about it and watch his highlights, the more I see that this is the guy we needed. As much as Barnes is gonna help us out, Landry would've addressed so many more issues. What happens now when either Blake or DJ get into foul trouble early? We send in Davies or some guy signed to the min? We would've had him at a discounted price too considering some team is gonna miss out on all of their FA targets and give this guy 7-8 mil a year.

The team will sign another big that should be able to contribute on both ends, and aspt the least Odom, so it won't be a guy like Davies relieving Blake and DJ. I think Landry wanted more than the Clippers were willing to offer.

I would like Aminu back too, but with Barnes back I doubt they are bringing him back in.

Jermaine O'neal is an option as a backup C, and then there are other PF options available. It would be nice to get an offensive big man off the bench.

You can only sign and trade your own players away in a deal. For example, Cleveland wouldn't be able to sign Barnes and trade him back to us.

Hollins is almost certain to be back and Odom is expected to return, but that's not an improvement from last season. Would a few ex-Clippers (i.e. Brand or Kaman) be interested in signing here for less?

Landry ended up signing with Sacramento for $27M over 4 years.

I'd love to have Speights, but he'd be leaving quite a bit on the table. He would have made $4M+ had he stayed with Cleveland. We can only offer him the minimum if we sign him outright. LJ Hann of ClipsNation, made a good point about packaging Green along with Wayns and Summers as a $4.8M trading package to pursue a player. I would be surprised if that happened, but it would be a real slick move.

But who? Udoh?

Blair is too undersized.

Right now, my realistic list is BJ Mullens, Kaman, Ayvon, Hollins. In that order

Udoh would be nice, I'm not sure Milwakee would be interested in doing that for three small expirings though.

Could we even do that? by my calculations we'd have then 10 roster spots and around $73.2 millions in payroll, rounding up the rest of the roster without surpassing the apron (where we are hard capped at), even on vet min deals would be tricky.
