I have to give some credit to Leon Rose (Paul's agent) as well as Neil and Andy. Rose liked the presentation that the Clippers pitched when LeBron was a free-agent. Everybody laughed that the Clippers even showed up or that our pitch didn't last 3-4 hours like some of the others, but it was enough to convince Rose that we would be a good fit for another client of his.

In terms of the trade, that fanbase really needs to get over it. Any wise owner (or party acting as owner) would have vetoed that crap as well. We don't go around saying that Ron Artest was a Clipper (as there was initially a trade agreed upon between the Pacers/Clippers of a Maggette/Artest swap during the 05-06 season).

I'm thankful that Paul took a chance on the Clippers despite the "woeful" history and reputation. His personality and character were desperately needed here. He has the type of mentality that you want out of your star player. His competitive fire embraced the challenge that many others would have shied away from. Does it materialize to anything significant over the next 5 years? Only time will tell, but he's off to a great start. It's on the Front Office from here on out to make crafty decisions that can put the team in a better position to win. That includes making shrewd selections at the draft, signing the right players for the right price and of course making savvy trades. This is now a place that other players around the league wouldn't mind playing for. There are a few reasons why, but Paul and his commitment is the primary reason. With a 5 year deal in place, it's even further solidified that he's going to be here for the long run and that should weigh heavily for any potential free-agent.

The CP3 effect on this franchise is monumental.
