i am typically too busy to watch the entirety of all clipper games but i catch almost all of the 4th quarters and follow boxscores etc...

can i just ask what is the reason for matt barnes starting and finishing the game? would it not make sense to have a shooter on the court such as dudley? is dudley that injured that he cant even play significant minutes?

i watch the fourth quarter tonight and it looks like blake should be taking over but he is obviously tired, they swing the ball, swing the ball and all of a sudden it just stops with matt barnes on multiple plays. He isn't that great of a shooter when he feels it and at this moment he is in a cold streak...

I know he is a good cutter, above average defensively... but really i feel as if sometimes with deandre and barnes on the court we are playing like the thunder with thabo and perkins not being able to give anything on the offensive end but we dont have the star power of kevin durant to bail us out

Yes. There's way too much redundancy on our roster

Foye is a good shooter, but he makes that shot maybe 20% of the time- 30 feet from the basket fading away. Very fortunate for Denver.

That game was lost due to poor defensive rebounding, inability to contain Lawson, and terrible officiating. Denver got so many suspect calls. Anybody recall the mysterious "inadvertent" whistle that took 2 points away from Griffin in the 1st quarter? He had already scored! That technically cost them the game. The refs in this league are outright atrocious and have been for a while. That is one of the most negative aspects of Stern's legacy. That and the allowance of Clay Bennett to steal the SuperSonics.

We need to win 3 of the next 4 to recover momentum into the break.

Standout Stat on Box Score

Post#106 » by Ranma » Tue Feb 4, 2014 7:19 am

I missed the game and have yet to see the game highlights, but it doesn't take a clairvoyant to guess what a major problem was: rebounding (lack thereof). The team got killed on the boards again, particularly on the offensive glass. DJ & Blake's respective 12 and 11 were matched by Hickson & Faried's respective 12 and 11, but only one other Clipper could muster as much as 4 rebounds (Barnes) while Denver had five players who garnered at least that much. In fact, both starting guards for the Nuggets individually surpassed Barnes' total and together were 1 board away from matching the Clippers' team total outside of Blake & DJ. That is some pretty darn pathetic team rebounding.

Unless Bullock is hurt, I don't understand why he is not getting more minutes to not only help his development and build his confidence but also allow for Dudley and/or Redick to rest up more for their respective ailments. Popovich knew well enough to play Kawhi Leonard over Stephen Jackson, so why can't Doc give Reggie the same treatment given the circumstances. I'm not saying Bullock is Leonard, but he is clearly a viable option over the likes of newcomer Vujacic and even Willie Green. Doc needs to at least bring in guys to show the rest of the team how to rebound as well as make it a priority in the game plan.

Hope we out flop LeFlop James
Wednesday.
He proved he's a flopper w his double flop tonight. No one has do w it yet but I would love to see us bring in Mullens or Jamison w bricks strapped to thru fists and see the club LeFlop. He's by far the worst.

We shal see.

The point about the frontcourt backups is that Hollins played quite well at Denver. Nobody expects anything about the guy, but he is still a 7 ft. I bet he can take more rebounds than Turkoglu. So, it seems to be a nonsense play with Hedo and Blake at the same time. Give him the 10 minutes we play without DJ.

the 1 good thing i liked about the game was towards the end when blake took his mouthpiece out of his mouth and told every to lock down on D... even though denver scored on that possession... lol

but i'm glad that our mentality is shifting and getting better on Def.

Come on now Matt, I know Dudley's been sucking but there's a big difference when you see a good player struggling on the court and a waste of meat like Mullens.

Dudley is going through a bad stretch, he's playing injured, his shot is not falling and he's ovethinking and trying to do too much when he gets on the court. It doesn't help that Doc changes his role every 5 minutes. But you still see a player with great fundamentals and a good attitude who's always looking to make the right play. And he knows how to, even if it doesn't always work.

With Mullens you only see an untalented hack who thinks he's way better than he is and only cares about filling up his boxscore whenever he's on the court. He's got absolutely no awareness or court vision on either end of the floor and you won't see the man ever break a sweat unless he gets to shoot in 5 straight possessions. His defensive tecnique is to get out of the way as not to foul his man.

Am I the only remaining Dudley defender in here?

Actually Leonard didn't play that much in his rookie season and Jefferson stole most of his minutes, and he was lot better than Bullock is at the moment. I don't think we need to play him much more, or to rush his development. Similar players around the league (think Avery Bradley, Jimmy Butler, Jeremy Lamb) spent their rookie years warming the bench and turned out alright. I actually think it's gonna be better for him not to throw him into pressure situations too much. He needs to be a consistent rotation player next year though.
