There was a specialist that joined the Clippers Live team to discuss Paul's shoulder and attempt to explain the process. He's not the surgeon, but just sharing his opinions. Neddy made mention of the different grading systems where some use 3 and some 5. The specialist said that it's possible for there to be up to 6 grades of which 4-6 usually require surgery and 1-2 is likely non-surgical. Grade 3 is a gray zone where it can go either way.
He says that it's likely never going to be back to the full level of strength that it was prior to the injury. It takes typically 12 weeks to regain 80% of strength for the torn ligaments. With that, it's more prone to future injury than if he hadn't injured it, but it would still take a decent amount of force. Once his shoulder is strengthened and regains the necessary range of motion, he'll be able to return. 6 weeks puts Paul at mid-February. From what I've read, he's looking to return in the first week of February.
