Thought he came in to cover Redick and hasn't played the last two games. I really hope we start using the ten day on big men out the d league to find a gem.

Logical but still doesn't make sense.

In light of Redick's ailment and Kevin Arnovitz & Jordan Heimer's podcast discussion [25:18 timestamp], I see the logic behind signing Vujacic but I still think it makes very little sense when he's overdoing it by continuing to play a really struggling Jared Dudley, who's also dealing with ailments of his own, and basically bringing in guys off the street and immediately giving them playing time over his own players who he's either supposed to be developing (Bullock) or are already familiar with the system in place (Green).

You don't see Scott Brooks or Gregg Popovich really do this when they primarily adhere to an internal culture of players (even newcomers) fitting into their system and being groomed to be contributing members of the unit. My post in the NBA thread cites the contrast between Sam Presti and the now departed Chris Grant in how they handled their respective situations. I know the Clippers are at a more advanced stage than where the Thunder were when they started out, but the aim for this organization is not just success in the immediate future but to continue to maintain sustained excellence, so it would behoove Rivers to follow the examples of Presti and Popovich & R.C. Buford.

I get that Doc wants "unpredictability" with lineups full of versatile playmakers with high basketball IQ and perimeter shooting to create plays difficult for the opposition to anticipate...heck, I've been a big proponent of having multiple ball-handlers in lineups for similar reasons, but I feel he goes about it in a way that is a bit detrimental to the team.

While acknowledging the paucity of quality big men available and even encouraging the notion of taking chances on random signings for a possible homerun find, it feels like he's leaning in favor of a quick fix over continued development, which I'm not a fan of at all. Yes, we're talking about the 15th spot on the roster, but given our depth issue and the wasted space occupied by Mullens and Jamison, it's a bigger deal than it should be, which Doc is also responsible for.

i wonder what kind of contract we need to take on and how many picks we need to dish out to dump dudley's contract next year. the good news is, after this season, dudley's contract is only for 2 more seasons, the last being a pretty decent expiring at 4.3 million.

hey aren't the bulls looking to dump Taj Gibson's contract? i believe his deal is 1 year longer than dud's, we can give them dudley, green, jamison, and mullens and our 1st round pick, and they can waive jamison and green and only have mullens for 1 more year and dudley for 2 while shedding gibson's salary and gain a pick with more than enough room to sign that pick.

hell, a man can dream, why not.
ehhhhh f it.

Role Models

Arash Markazi, ESPN Los Angeles (2/6/14)
Despite their struggles against the league’s elite, the Clippers are learning something from each team, especially the Heat, who never waver from their system. It’s the kind of consistency and the trust the Clippers are aiming for.

“They never deviate from what they do,” Jared Dudley said. “LeBron [James] is the focal point and such an unselfish superstar. Defensively they’re going to be in their spots. Their poise and their timing and execution down the stretch are things you can learn from. They’re a team that’s been there and done that and has chemistry, and that’s something we’re trying to get.”

The process, however, never really ends. Talk to Heat players and coaches, and they’ll tell you each season brings with it a new set of challenges, teammates and opponents. Winning a title one year gives the experience to do it again, but there is certainly no blueprint that guarantees success.

“We try to build habits,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “We talk about the process all the time. It’s about building and getting to our identity. We’ve been inconsistent with that so far up to this [point] of the year. It’s not about our record. It’s about how we’re playing. We know we can get to another level.”

Clippers trying to emulate Heat

I guess the Heat will also work as a model to aspire to as long as they're not the only team Doc is taking cues from.

When we waive/not re-sign players like Wayns, Morris, etc I always think Doc is making room for a nice pick up. Every time he seems to just choose a worse guard than the one we had.
