Refraff

Post#23 » by Ranma » Sun Feb 23, 2014 8:18 pm

Not only did Durant traveled but the ball was actually stripped clean off his foot, but the refs give him two free throws on the drive.

i can tolerate superstar treatment.

his is unbearable.
it isn't superstar treatment...it's, "no way he committed a SNAFU on offense...blow the whistle"

LMFAO at Durant missing Barnes' arm on that swing thru and getting awarded FTs.

those 2 misses were poetic justice.

This ref needs to go. Called two ridiculous charges and didn't call Fisher taking out Jamal's legs.

Thunder Strike

Post#29 » by Ranma » Sun Feb 23, 2014 8:46 pm

Hubie Brown made a point throughout the game that the Clips' limiting the Thunder to single-chance shots with timely rebounds was key to the contest. We actually outrebounded them 44 to 37 but free-throw shooting remains a problem.

Both Griffin & Paul had fairly pedestrian games, but Crawford stepped up big-time for us to get the much-needed win against a top quality opponent.

The Thunder routinely get a 10 point spot in almost every game because of the favoritism toward Durant. It is so transparent. I am so happy the Clips overcame that anyway.

Hats off to Crawford and Barnes for this game. What a season Crawford is having!

The refs did a very good job limiting Blake Griffin. Crawford was excellent and so was Barnes. CP3 had a fairly good game. Was a bit passive but he did a great job on the boards and facilitating the offense.

I'm back from my daughters party. Luckily the place where we had it had the game on. I was able to see us pull out the game. I'm proud that the guys were able to win in OKC!
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Good win.. Finally got some production out of the SF position today from Barnes. Dudley needs to be benched. Missing threes is one thing but missing free throws and getting burned on defense is inexcusable. I love when Blake is bringing the ball upcourt and either taking it to the rim or passing out to an open shooter. That pick and roll game he plays with CP3 is painful to watch. It hurts his game.

one thing we're good at is getting to the free throw line to stop these runs.

I want to keep that trait moving forward.
it's a run killer and helps especially when people do the hack-a-Dre

Postgame Thoughts

Post#39 » by Ranma » Mon Feb 24, 2014 6:45 am

Arash Markazi, ESPN Los Angeles (2/23/14)
“We were on the plane yesterday flying here and we were talking about how we hadn’t beaten any really good teams on the road,” said Chris Paul, who had 18 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds despite playing with a sprained right thumb. “This would be the perfect time to start. Doc was on us, telling us even in the playoffs you’re going to lose a home game at some point and you have to be able to win on the road. So hopefully this is a win that gets us going.”

Before Sunday, the Clippers' biggest win on the road after the first half of November was probably a comeback win over the Dallas Mavericks last month when Paul was injured. Dallas is currently the eighth seed in the West.

Of the teams with the top 12 records in the NBA, the Clippers are the only one without a winning record on the road. Even after Sunday’s win the Clippers are just 15-15 away from home while holding a 23-5 home record, which is tied with Oklahoma City for the best in the West. The problem is if the season ended today, the Clippers would start the playoffs on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers, another team they have yet to beat on the road this season, so the ability to win away from home is essential.

Big road win will boost Clippers' confidence

Arash Markazi, ESPN Los Angeles (2/23/14)
These are the kind of games the Los Angeles Clippers need to start winning to be considered legitimate contenders in the NBA.
...

What it means: The Clippers have finally defeated a top-four team on the road after losing previously at Miami, Indiana, Oklahoma City and San Antonio. It also means they avoided losing three games in a row for the first time this season. They are one of five teams that have not lost three straight.

Rapid Reaction: Clippers 125, Thunder 117

Fred Katz, ClipperBlog (2/23/14)
Dudley Do-Start?
Maybe Jared Dudley shouldn’t be coming off the bench. Maybe we’ve had it all wrong.

At this point, Matt Barnes is the superior player to Dudley. That seems like a given with the opposite directions in which the two of them are heading. But remember, starting doesn’t necessarily mean you’re being rewarded for fine play. Sometimes, it’s just about meshing with your teammates.

Dudley was “slumping” earlier in the season, but still managed to shoot 45 percent from the field and 38 percent from three in his starts. Off the bench, though, it’s been completely different. He’s at 40 percent from the floor. He’s at 23 percent from long range. And he’d not getting all those open looks playing with inferior shot creators to Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.

Dudley’s 15 games off the bench have all been grouped together so it’s possible that this is just some kind of super-extended cold streak. Maybe he’s just in a far-too-long slump. But realistically, we’re seeing reasons as to why Dudley can’t succeed as much off the bench as he could in the starting lineup.

You don’t have to play Dudley any more minutes. Treat him like Vinny Del Negro treated Willie Green last season. This isn’t about playing time. It’s about putting guys in more comfortable positions to succeed. Right now, with Dudley struggling to play without facilitators, the Clippers’ bench needs a serious infusion of points and energy.

Last Call: Los Angeles Clippers 125, Oklahoma City Thunder 117

Agree with the idea Dudley should start the bench seems to be getting worse by the game.
