CP3 finally looking to get past the Spurs to get to the WCF?

If ya'll remember, in '08 Chris Paul had an MVP candidate year and had HCA against the defending champions San Antonio Spurs in the Semi-Finals. No one gave him much of a chance to beat the Spurs since he had no playoff experience, and even though he lost in 7 games his team lead the series up until the final game and averaged nearly 25 PPG, and it seemed he would be in the WCF sooner than later. But since '08 he's only been out of the 1st round once, and the one time he got out of the 1st round he got swept by the Spurs because Memphis' rough style in the previous round limited his effectiveness against the Spurs. So the 2 times he went to the Semi-Finals the Spurs put a road block in front of him preventing him from getting to the Final 4.

It looks like the Clippers will get the 3rd spot (I think Houston will eventually drop 4th) and set up a Clippers-Spurs rematch unless a 1st round upset happens, which I don't see happening. What chance do you give CP3 in finally beating the Spurs and getting to the WCF?

slow down, there is no guarantee that spurs will end up with the 2 seed nor do i think the clippers will only go as high as 3rd seed. 19 games to go and clips have the easiest schedule remaining, while thunder and spurs still have a few tough games to play and only 3.5/3.0 ahead. clips can still take the top seed, if not the second and gain that HCA over whoever comes our way in 2nd round.

Nah, I think OKC will stay in the 1st spot, Westbrook and Durant are starting to play well together again. The Spurs have been too consistent this year to drop 3rd, they've had key players out all season long and have still been #2. I think Houston will begin facing pressure toward the last month of the season and drop some games, they don't have the experience yet. Same goes for Portland, the last month and a half benefits the Thunder, Spurs, and Clippers because they've been there before.

The Spurs ar only a half game behind OKC.
what if the Spurs take over OKC and we face OKC as a 2 vs. 3?
then the Spurs get bounced in the 2nd round by a Rockets team that has given them fits all year?

Yeah I know the Thunder aren't a lock for the 1st seed yet, but I think it would be more interesting if the Spurs stayed 2nd to see how much better the Clippers match up w/the Spurs this time.

I think we finish 3rd so face okc in 2nd and spurs in finals.

I know Houston has done well vs the spurs but playoffs is different game. I really don't buy into Houston

I don't really see them getting punked inside either with D12 and Terrence Jones banging down there.
If you had the short list of PGs to guard TP who would it be?
probably...CP, Prime Rondo and...and....that's right...Patrick Beverly.

they might be a team the Spurs want to avoid.

man i was so hyped that season and playoffs for paul and the hornets. If i recall correctly, David West was having back spasms or some other back related injury towards the end of the season. The hornets quickly dismantled the mavericks in the first round, paul owned jason kidd. Then the next round goes to 7 games with the spurs. In game 5 or 6, I am pretty sure it was robert horry who fouled david west hard in his back (which looked intentional) which caused david west to not be as effective as he was in the early part of the series. He had put up a couple huge games of like 40-15 and 30-12 and was outplaying duncan. You knew what you were gonna get from paul every night but having david west play like that was killing the spurs. Then David west had an average game 7 and hornets lose.

The previous year horry had tackled nash into the scorers table in the spurs and suns series which resulted in amare and diaw getting suspended and again the spurs won. Both years I dont think the spurs should have advanced due to the opposing team's PF not being able to play or play up at 100% and the PG (nash and paul) could have advanced farther into the playoffs than they had

players like horry, bowen, oberto were the reason that the spurs were seen as a dirty team

well right now OKC would be the 2nd seed...not sure who is a better match-up for the clips.
