Jamal Crawford, Danny Granger Likely Out Until Postseason

Post#1 » by BlzMwt » Fri Apr 4, 2014 4:44 pm

via WireTap

Jamal Crawford and Danny Granger will likely be out of the Los Angeles Clippers' lineup until the playoffs.

Crawford is dealing with a sore left Achillies while Granger is suffering from a strained left hamstring.

"Jamal is out for a while, and I think Danny is out for a while," Doc Rivers said. "I'd be surprised if we saw either one of them before the playoffs maybe.

"That's a concern and that's where we're at right now."

I like the idea of them being cautious and favouring the rest and their health over pushing them to play sooner. Makes sense considering it looks like the 3rd seed is locked up and the 2nd maybe out of reach. Worrying though that their ailments (moreso Crawford) could linger into the postseason. I don''t think we make it past the 2nd round without Crawford playing

Don't mind Crawford being out as he will find his way fast during a series. Collision can hold the regular season slack for the bench until he can get more help. Granger is the real problem for me the longer he stays out we need him to get reps so he can start with JJ. Barnes shot seems to be coming and going as of late and having Granger could be better potential my fit wise on the wings.

I am concerned. I don't want our starters playing even bigger minutes and wearing themselves out. Granger is a nice glue guy kind of like a very very poor man's iguodala. Obviously Crawford is invaluable for those few games where we struggle as a team but he scores allowing us to take home a W.

I am concerned about Crawford requiring a few games to regain his rhythm. He is a rhythm/streaky player, so this could be a problem. I think Doc should bring him back for the last 2 games of the regular season- even if its just for 15-20 minutes/game.

If Houston goes 7-0 they win 57 games. The Clippers need to go 3-2 over their last 5 games to win 57 games and they have the tie breaker obviously.

If Clippers win out, they go 59-23, OKC needs to go 4-3 over their last 7 games to win 59 games

OKC's schedule:
@Phoenix
@Sacramento
@ LAC
New Orleans
@Indiana
@New Orleans
Detroit

Of course this would have to include loosing to the Clippers, but do you see 2 other losses in there? @ Phoenix is always a difficult matchup. Pelicans had a nice streak but have now lost 4 in a row. Pacers used to be a tough matchup, but not recently, since the start of March, they are 9-11. They are 3-7 in their last 10 games.

If I was to bet, I would bet on OKC going 5-2 and winning 60 games. So yea, the 1-3 seeds are pretty much locked up

I'd like both Crawford and Granger to at least get a game in if they can. We might get to the point where we rest a lot of guys. I do think they should be able to get a little game time so they aren't rusty for the playoffs.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Come onnnnn we need to be lucky with our health right now, for once in our lives!!

I can see Crawford coming right back like he wasn't ever out, but Granger, it's gonna be hard to have him contribute much unless he's 100% healthy and fit. Hopefully Dudley can get into a groove as well and cover for him.

Health will definitely be a big factor in the post-season. With how close these top team are in talent, you can't really afford any significant player being out. It would be nice to see everyone play in the Portland game just to get everyone one game before the post-season, but there's no point in taking any chances.

If the extra rest is needed, then they should get it.

Granger could be a much needed x factor if he can get some games in before the end.

In the pregame show, Kristina said something along the lines of the Clippers not expecting Granger for the playoffs. She then said that the Clippers were hopeful that he would play in the playoffs. I'm wondering if she meant that he wasn't expected back before the playoffs.

i wouldn't want him to start ... MattyB is consistent and i think limiting granger for a solid 20-25 mpg would be great for us to a deep run... I would consider giving him more mins as the post season progresses, but i was def hoping to having him back before the post season
