DJ is my guy... But calling him 3rd best defender is cray.
Disappointed he didn't get top 3 in MIP.
At least Mike dumbass Smith will sneak some MVP votes in for him.
DeAndre Jordan finished 3rd in DPOY voting.

so again...Hibbert is allowed to do something worse than DJ because his overall team is better than the Clips on that side of the ball?
DeAndre rebounded better when he was on Vinny minutes.
2) What exactly is your point that the Hawks are game planning around Hibbert and other teams don't for DJ?
It's basic elementary basketball....hey, there's a big lummox clogging up the paint...put him in pick and rolls and stretch the floor out so he has to be on the perimeter.
if teams don't think it's worth it to game plan for DJ, how is that a problem to me?....i'll take his 5 blocks, altered shots and double digit rebounding performances....and his foot dexterity on the pick and roll any day of the week over having a big slow footed behemoth in the paint that can easily be taken out of the game once i spread the floor.
if we had Hibbert right now going against GSW...we'd be in trouble. wouldn't rebound. wouldn't double curry well...wouldnt be able to close out like we need.
It's not about doing specific things worse, having better or worse numbers here and there or whatever the boxscore says. It's about how each one of them impacts overall his team defense. I watch Hibbert play and I see a guy that other teams have to go out of their usual sets to avoid. That is a massive advantage if you get the other team out of their comfort zone on offense. I read yesterday on twitter that the Hawks are attempting 1 shot at the rim against Hibbert, and the Warriors are attempting 10+ per game against DJ. That means the Hawks are getting a lot of jumpers instead of layups. The jumpers went in the first game but that's not a durable strategy and they'll probably get crushed soon. If we could focus on guarding the perimeter because Curry and Iguodala were scared to go at DJ we'd have a massive advantage against the Warriors.
I mean, I think it's pretty evident, the Pacers - even with their big slump - had one of the best defensive seasons of the last decade, and their system is based in Hibbert's ability to protect the rim. We are a so-so defense. There shouldn't be much more to talk about.

I think (and according to my formula) DJ should have won DPOY (by a pretty good margin)
