We have NO obvious reason as to why we don't play like a team, why we don't play with hustle, why we don't WANT to win, why we drop to opponents levels. We've got the superstars, we've got the coach. Sure theres a few weakness' but in terms of purely our players, we should be up there every night.

I don't understand Blake at all this season. I've always defended him being weak and soft, but this year I can't. He's turned into a jump shooter who occasionally attacks. HE DOESN'T REBOUND AT ALL, he looks lost on court. He doesn't look interested and that kills me as a massive Blake fan. As fan's we gotta understand they're human, they go through slumps/other things in 'real life' so it could be anything. Or maybe he's carrying an injury... who knows. But I would like some explanation... and if not then I'm annoyed at Doc, everyone can see Blake not playing with effort, especially on D. Pull him out for a half, teach him a lesson. Doc still always praises Griffin whenever he can, why? he's not doing his job right now. Call him out, surely someone has to have a go at Blake sooner or later.

I just don't get it, I've said it to you guys before and I'll say it again. Bring back rookie Blake who had barely any other skills but to bully people and dunk on people. He still got it done.

I completely agree. Put simply, Blake has over complicated his game by trying to reach the next level of stardom. It will take more than one off-season for him to become a dirk-like player who can shoot J's from anywhere. He is shooting under his career average this season which may not be a big deal but if he is taking 20 - 30 shots a game then it can be quite inefficient.

It seems like there's a little bit of he added all these skills and doesn't yet know how to put it all together inside the offense going on. I'm not too worried about that, it is actually the defensive effort and rebounding that is sad and disappointing.

Scoring wise alone, last seasons first 25 games:
20.1 ppg, 51.6% FG, 66.1% FT, 6.6 fta/g, 3.1 apg, 2.7 tpg, but 10.4 rpg (8.2 drpg), 36.7 mpg. People we like he didn't really improve at all.

The 55 games following:
26 ppg, 53.3% FG, 73.3% FT, 9.3 fta/g, 4.2 apg, 2.9 tpg, 9.0 rpg (6.5 drpg), 35.4 mpg.

Everything went up in less mpg except for rpg.

There's a correlation between those numbers going up in the later part of the season while his rebounding goes down. As we all know he's told by the coaches to worry more about leaking out in transition than maintaining position for the rebound, I'm ok with having one or two rebounds less a game if it means our offense is gonna be more difficult to stop.

I'm not too worried about Blake's rebounding, I couldn't care less if his raw rebounding numbers regress, as long as the team's rebounding is good. And this year we're the 6th best defensive rebounding team in the league, getting 77.2% of the defensive rebound opportunities. That'd be the 2nd best mark last year. Our overall rebounding is average cause we completely disregard offensive rebounding, but I'm also ok with that if it makes our defense better.

Rebounding is the most overrated part of the game, people freak out at players with great rebounding numbers, but traditionally a great percentage of those players are hurting the team by disregarding defense, not boxing out, or losing position to just go get any rebound. Think the Boozer's, David Lee's, Camby's, Kaman's, Troy Murphy's, Jamison's, Stephenson's, Kevin Love's of the league. Good individual rebounding doesn't necessarily correlate with winning basketball. Yeah, it's important to keep/gain possessions, but the risk of putting too much effort in rebounding doesn't outweigh the pros of having good position on both ends after the rebound.

Whilst I agree, to me, this point about rebounding being an overrated part of the game, I don't agree with. It's momentum to grab offensive boards and out hustle teams for defensive boards, in my view it's very important. Griffin and DJ are the most athletic front court in the NBA, they shouldn't even need to put in a lot of effort to both easily grab 10+ boards a game, box out (which I'm sure they know how to do) use your leap, and run.
