Has DJ killed Blake's rebounding numbers?

I know it's rare for any team to have two players with double-digit RPG. Last year, it almost happened with Blake averaging 9.5 RPG. But will we ever see Blake getting 10 or more RPG with DJ as his teammate? If Blake was really a great rebounder, he should be the one making DJ average < 10 RPG. But I guess not.

I don't think you quite understand the rebounding numbers..

Blake is told to run in transition, get position, leaving the easy defensive boards (which there are a lot of, same with every team) to DJ. We all see Blake not putting in the effort he used to on the glass so nobody can excuse that but I honestly think it's not that he's turned into a bad rebounder, it's the system and the way him and DJ have to play together.

DJ doesn't have an offence, what's the point in him running down to get position in the key? there is none. Therefore he's the scrappy big man that needs to gobble up rebounds, which he does. People that don't understand Blake's bad rebounding numbers are pretty unaware as to why. Although as I mentioned before, he doesn't look like he trys to get them a lot of the time, again, that's an effort thing (which I have no answer for and frustrates the hell out of me).

But to answer your question, obviously it has yes, that's no secret.

Blake gives up the easy rebounds he could get to DJ. It is true that DJ's increased rebound rate the past to seasons had to come from somewhere. The Clippers are top 5 in DREB%, so I'm not to worried about individual rebound numbers if team rebounding is good. If team rebounding was bad, then it could be an issue.

According to Mike Smith, Blake Griffin told him that he ceased grabbing rebounds for the betterment of DeAndre Jordan's progression. My speculation is he's trying to help get DJ into the All Star Game, who was two rebounds shy of breaking his career high of 24 last night. Griffin knows that he'll get in because of fan votes. DJ is a more difficult situation, which could require the coaches into not voting Chris Paul in. It was supposedly reported that Doc was pushing for DJ to get in, knowing that he needs to have a selection for the Clippers Big 3 to be considered legit.

Would love to see quote or source of this. Makes sense for the progression bit to DJ, as I said, there are a lot of easy defensive rebounds that don't mean a lot cept you're standing where you're meant to stand and the ball goes your side of the rim.

Didn't know getting DJ to the allstar game was considered such a priority.

He leaves the rebounds to DJ to increase his worth so he can get paid. They are good buddies right? Doesn't seem that unrealistic imo.

I am really impressed with how Blake Griffin is taking on the role of a total leader . Last year I said,during the playoffs ,that he was not a go to guy yet. This year he has proven to have the heart and mental focus of a champion. In watching him train this summer , alongside his teammates, he put the work in and did not leave it to chance. Hard work will always prevail. So now you guys get to see a champion in the making.
