I'm a basketball reference idiot and can never figure that site out, so I don't know how many points JJ averages in the first quarter but I think it's a lot. Every other game he'll score ten points in the first couple minutes and finish the game with 15 or so. What the heck? Why not just make him our first option? Do we want to let the other team make it a game? Is Rivers a racist? Is JJ actually an alien whose home planet lets him play with us as long as he doesn't dominate enough to be discovered?
I broke it down: if JJ scores somewhere in the ballpark of 10 points every two minutes, and we set a minutes limit on him for 40 minutes a game, we should reasonably expect him to score 200 points a game. I don't think we even need a wing defender if we let Reddick loose.

AS absurd as it sounds, I'd be happy giving JJ 30+ minutes per game and Jamal can keep his minutes but play more at the backup PG position.

Re: JJ Should Lead The League In Scoring
the clips surely need a better plan late in games that are close. they have lost 4 plus games they could have won. the offense works good for 45 minutes and then they try to finish with 2 on 5 play. I believe the coaching should be better in that time of the game. jj is every nba players worst nightmare. nobody want's to be the guy who gave up 30 to him.

Re: JJ Should Lead The League In Scoring
i have been saying this forever. JJ's #1 asset isn't his shooting, it is his agility and endurance to run around like a rabbit all night, every night. he can wear out the opposing 2 guard into exhaustion by the 4th quarter. he has to play more and he deserves to finish the 4th quarter. you give him 38 minutes or so he will average near 20 automatically, and he is shooting around 63% True shooting for god sake.
ehhhhh f it.

I wish Doc would figure this out.

Re: JJ Should Lead The League In Scoring
JJ is 12th in 1st quarter scoring with 6.5 ppg. The slow start that he had to begin the season has knocked him down a little. In the last 15 games, he's 5th with 7.5 ppg. On the season, BG is 2nd overall with 7.6 ppg.
He's currently averaging the 2nd highest minute per game total of his career. He's played in 31 or more mpg 11 times over the last 15 games and over 34 minutes in 4 of our 6 losses during that stretch. His playing time is trending upward.

Re: JJ Should Lead The League In Scoring
Lol, weird post.
J.J. plays more minutes in the 1st than other quarters. The team goes to him early and often to set the tone and open up inside scoring. J.J can't actually get off enougn good looks to lead the league in scoring. He wpuod need to get to the basket more also to do something like that.

Re: JJ Should Lead The League In Scoring
JJ's running game will give him plenty of open looks. I would to see him cutting to the basket for an easy lay up. The shots will be there when the opposition defender is tired from chasing him all day

Re: JJ Should Lead The League In Scoring
If we're talking about averaging 20 PPG, sure. that's not an issue, but that's a stretch from leading the league in scoring.
Redick has averaged 15.2 ppg in 29 mpg in his 68 games as a Clipper.
18.9 pts/36, so yea, if you play him 38 mpg, he'd average 20 ppg if he could maintain his rate and efficiency of scoring. J.J doesn't play so much partially because there's another really good SG on the team. The minute share technically does allow for them to be better rested and be able to go harder on defense while maintaining their offensive production.

Re: JJ Should Lead The League In Scoring
I agree with og15 in that he could surely get 18 to 20 with more minutes but jc gets some of the time and that's a good thing for the clips if jc is scoring. otherwise give the time to jj. he can handle the extra minutes. I believe jj should get more shots but sometimes for whatever reason he gets overlooked when open. another coaching concern for me!!!! who would you rather have shoot? blake a long 2 @39% or jj a 3 @43%

Clippers' Redick gets party started again in win over Knicks
In the Clippers’ 17 games during the month, Redick scored 45.5 percent of his points in the first quarter. The hot starts have been an extreme luxury for his teammates, allowing them to work themselves into the flow of the game with Redick running full speed from the opening tip.
“He starts off the game and he has it going,” Chris Paul said. “Last year, he was having first quarters like that. He still has it going like that now.
“I think it’s a skill. It just shows how hard J.J. plays.”
...
“If you were to watch me from like, the 10 minutes or so on the clock in warmups to the jump ball, there’s no way I’m not ready,” he said. “I do this whole routine and it’s coordinated by what time it is in warmups. I make sure everything is activated, all the muscles.”
...
Wednesday, Redick wrapped up 2014 by scoring 20 or more points for the eighth time in December, the most times he’s scored 20 or more in a month during his career.
After starting the season 4 for 23 from 3-point range, Redick has hit a remarkable 47.3 percent from deep.
