I'm not a fan of iso game winning situations. I'd rather we run a normal offensive play and if it breaks up then do iso. We have so many plays to get JJ and Barnes wide opens 3s that I don't understand why we don't do them in end of game situations. And before you say its a Doc thing. It's not. Take a look around the NBA. Every team does it. Every team ends up doing iso plays for a potential game winner.

It's not even the iso-hero crap that's the most maddening thing, it's always having an unclutch six-foot-nothing point guard running the iso-hero crap.

this was a tough loss to a cheap shot team. I saw ariza try to hit blake on the arm as they walked off in a time out. plus jj gets held the whole game along with Jordan as well. you are right about complaining. it help nothing. last I agree on this cp3 iso win or lose game plan is awful. doc is surely better than that. I hope we see Houston again.

glad to see hawes has played himself out of playing and hope jamal gets back soon. Austin is a loose cannon who will not be in the nba in 2 years unless he makes a remarkable transformation.

I've never seen a guy get a back pedal charge call to the shoulder. Disgraceful. Sad that the ABC team supported that call. If it is against the Clippers, they always agree with the call.

Not worried about a matchup with Houston in the playoffs like other whiney people in this thread. Bring em.

The refs were terrible in this game

However, the Clippers better get their heads out of their asses right away or they might find themselves out of the playoffs altogether.

today was the last tough game of that tough stretch.

we'll see how we respond.
I would be shocked if we lose our next game.

shocked…but a little less shocked….if we lose the game after that.
then the Wizards should be a nice competitive game at home where we have to be on our Ps and Qs to win…but should win.

Two straight years of this crap even after it cost us a playoff series says otherwise, especially when his only other option is an even worse Jamal iso. But Doc's an "amazing coach" according to some people on here... LOL.

I don't like that we lost, hopefully we can pick up another win soon. Not too many games left so we have to play good ball down the stretch.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

From the play development, looked like they were trying to get Redick off the ball, but he didn't get enough separation from his defender, all the Rockets defenders smartly stayed home and there wasn't really time for anything else. Also the inbound position didn't help, but a big thing you can see is that DJ actually didn't set a screen for CP, he just ran in the direction and basically did nothing.

^^That was DJ's screen. He just ran close to the area then went away. I don't know if that was planned, but yea...

CP could have pulled up a little earlier though, but misses happen, that's life. Game winning shots have like a low 30% success rate already. I'm a bigger fan of trying to get the best shot in those situations as opposed to forcing iso shots. In this situation, the Rockets defended it well as a team, so it is what it is.

I always read your posts and just hope you aren't going to give yourself a heart attack or lacerate your arm punching through glass or something. You're way too all or nothing, over-exaggerating on everything. You just have to take some deep breaths and try to be more balanced in your assessments of things.

Just doesn't help your credibility when you go over the top and magnify everything into wide reaching conclusions.

Really though, it's okay...

Yeah, I thought that was weird, they didn't even try to screen Ariza, just here you have the ball Paul, do something with it while we watch. In that game winner he hit against the Grizzlies in the playoffs, at least they tried to set a pick so he was free of Allen. They couldn't do it, cause it's not that easy to do when the defense is 100% focused, but at least they tried it.

But yeah, it's whatever, like og said, game winning shots are really low % shots by definition, so it's not like we lost the game in that shot particularly. Paul's shot being inconsistent all game hurt us a lot and closed a lot of door to the offense, Blake being rusty, hesitant, and out of shape didn't help either. And the defense was not good, I thought they were just giving Harden the looks he wanted, which is something we hadn't done in a long time against the Rockets.

Now should be the lowest point of the season, since we just finished a brutal stretch where the schedule was unreasonable, but we now only have 6 of our 15 games left against teams over .500, and 4 of those are at home. Time to jockey for position and get everyone healthy and fit.

OG.

i haven't seen the play a 2nd time.

My initial thought was, Redick was there. Then I thought, he kinda had Ariza with the heso and coulda done his bring-feet-together-floppy-get-contact-and1-layup…then I thought he just air mailed it cuz he thought Ariza was closer than he was.

So I was mad for a number of reasons…not just the air ball.
But I'd have to watch the play again.

I don't think with Paul's size and the direction he was looking he could have gotten it to Redick cleanly and quickly enough, as Redick didn't separate enough. Ariza could probably have tipped a pass going there. You're right though is that he had Ariza with the hesitation it seemed, and then again, a little step back option, Ariza is long, so I don't know, but he could have gotten something off the move.

Why didn't we use a pick n roll? Ariza is a great defender so I surprised when CP wanted to take him all by himself

Looked like DJ was supposed to set a pick, but he didn't really get there and cut early. Again, I don't know if that was deliberate or if it just played out that way
