Clippers’ in-sync offense shifts into a higher gear

“Our offense is beautiful to watch,” he said after the Clippers’ win Sunday.

During the Clippers’ current seven-game winning streak, the offense has style and substance. According to the NBA, the Clippers are scoring 113.8 points per 100 possessions – best in the league over the past two weeks.

Redick said the Clippers have begun to look for second and third options on their sets, a sign of continuity, in addition to another massive factor.

“The other thing that’s happened in this stretch is our first unit is getting stops and we get to go against a defense in a transition that’s not as set. That creates a lot of problems,” Redick said. “A defense essentially has to make tough decisions. Do we stop Chris on the pick-and-roll and leave (DeAndre Jordan) to roll?

“Do we stop D.J. to roll and leave the weakside corner open, which is usually either Matt or me? So we’re creating problems and making it tough on the defense.”

With eight games left and a shot to climb as high as No. 2 in the Western Conference, the Clippers seem like they’ve found the balance they’ve searched for.

“I think our guys have finally connected the dots,” Rivers said. “When we’re good defensively, we’re really good offensively. That’s something we’ve been trying to get them to see all year. Those dots are connected. They get it.

Even with our schedule being mostly soft, that is FREAKING HUGE and gives me a lot of hope for the post season. Let's see if we can keep it up against great teams, but if we can get a sustainable good-to-great defense while our offense keeps at around this level, I fear no one.

When Griffin was out? You're talking about February?

lol relax Quake, no need to get sensitive over every little thing. I'm being positive but also acknowledging that a lot of the games allowing for that DRtg were padded against weak opponents. We held Chicago and Memphis twice to low scores, but the Spurs, Warriors, Rockets, Thunder, Dallas, all scored over 100 on us, even on the games we won with ease.

Not saying it's a bad sign or anything, just that it's not yet a reliable trend to think we have a great defense. We don't. We haven't in years, decades probably, but if we can get to the level we had last playoffs or above, we can dream to win a chip with this offense of ours.
