Getting into the playoffs with major injuries hasn't done anything for him so I like his more toned down approach.

Of course I'm just speculating, but I'd like to think I'm more reasonable than people who think he's lost a foot off his vertical or that he's missed his steroids cycle.

I don't want to think he's lost a foot off his vertical, I'd just like to see a play where he gets more than a foot closer to his highest leaps from last year. His best highlight has been that dunk in Phoenix and his head was closer to the bottom of the net than the rim. He'd regularly get head high to the rim every other year of his career.

Blake has 37 dunks in 33 games so far. He had 176 in 82 games last year, so he's getting less than half the dunks he got last year. I'm sad! SAD!

You're right. I wish you weren't, but based on what we've seen this season it's true.

Look at a dunk from just last season:

His head is ABOVE the rim.

Blake hasn't had a dunk this season come remotely close to this level of athleticism. And if it does have something to do with the HGH testing, I hope he finds a way to beat the test. Dead serious. I want Super Blake back.

Blake with his explosion/athleticism from last season paired with his jumper and passing from this season is UNSTOPPABLE. That guy would be battling Kevin Durant for best player in basketball.

Great post. Catch me up, HGH testing?

I agree with not seeing ONE dunk that has made me think to last year/every other year of what a freak athlete he is. Can't understand this at all...

Another bad sign is that CP isn't throwing Blake the same lobs he did in years past and neither are the other guys. I think they all know what's going on with Blake and have adjusted accordingly. DJ is now the only "throw the ball near the rim he'll flush it" guy.

Looks like we'll never really know what happened until the off-season. They always do that: save the burning questions until after the championship is won. I'd rather have them answer it now and get it over with. Or else, it's going to be a big deal.

I don't know Blake but from interviews he doesn't seem lazy so it must be a physical/injury related answer as to why he isn't "beast blake" anymore. I don't care if people call us 'all show, no talent' I loved lob city.

I think this is right. He doesn't seem to be the lazy/non effort type of player, that wouldn't explain it. Has to be another reason.

Well at least he hasn't lost a foot:

I paused it at the peak of his jump and his head looks about 3-4 inches from the rim, which, if that's the highest he can now get, means he's probably lost about a half a foot. But he also didn't get a full running start so that might not be his max. Either way, what a relief to see him do a windmill!

head didn't hit the rim here….unless I'm blind.
always thought his head would be at the rim on other dunks….not the windmills.

Looking back at this thread now I think he was just saving himself during the season.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Did any of you read Matt Barnes post game comments after Game 1, said that Blake was saying before the game that "he didn't know if he could dunk on someone anymore".

No point reading into this cause I assume it was in context and said in a having a dig at himself way.

But interesting, after those dunks on Baynes though, you'd have to agree with above^^^ Blake was also quoted saying he didn't want to settle for jumpshots.

Blake's vertical at the combine was measured at 35.5". Supposedly, he was around 40" a few years ago. He was more explosive after the knee injury that he had prior to his "red shirt" rookie season. The increased vertical/athleticism was one of the benefits of rehab/strengthening exercises that he was required to do.

thats cool. I didn't know he actually increased. I wonder what it is now. I also wonder what type of a factor weight and muscle mass has played.

honestly, none of this really matters to me anymore. Just interesting how he has evolved.
