Sorry guys, you can't lower your shoulder and ram into the defender, regardless of movement.

The Jeff Green Experience Preview

Post#64 » by Wammy Giveaway » Thu Feb 25, 2016 6:03 am

First, my take on the game. Holy Harris, he made some really tough clutch shots. And Danilo Gallinari, Kenneth Faried and Joffrey Lauvergne were feasting the paint. And once again, Doc's penchant for nostalgia dooms the Clippers to another loss to a lottery team.

And look at this:

First streak: Jan. 13-24, Win MIA, Lose SAC, Win HOU, Lose CLE, Win NYK, Lose NYK
Second streak: Feb. 8-24, Win PHI, Lose BOS, Win SAS, Lose GSW, Win PHX, Lose DEN

This is the second time the Clippers had three back-to-back win-loss streaks. This is becoming a pattern.

On to the Jeff Green experience. He had some really good shot block Preventions today, notably in the 4th quarter. The sentiment from here among Clipper fans is that Jeff is a false-positive guy. He'll pad his numbers on lottery teams (like tonight), but provide little against elite teams. I've been doing research on this topic going as far back to his rookie season and noticed something really interesting.

1. Team wins with Jeff Green, starter or bench, were mostly against lottery teams.
2. He is a cursed player when it comes to playoff teams on both conferences, especially the west.

Look out for a new post from me within the week. I'll have startling numbers as always.

Really didn't look life he rammed into him, kinda looked like Gallo was specifically trying to take a charge and they get also tangled their feet somewhat. I don't think there's much argument that it was a good call. The Denver commentators themselves didn't even agree with the call and they are clearly not on the Clippers side.

Doesn't matter though, the Clippers shouldn't have put themselves in a position where a call like that determines the game.

this game proves once again how much we need blake and how fragile this team is. if cp3 or jj gets hurt we are in trouble. we basically have no 3 or 4 at this time. I think green is going to start soon and I hope he can fit. when blake comes back the team should be in a lot better place. you just can not win very many games when your starting 3 and 4 together score 4 points.

I didn't watch the game or follow this one that close. I can't believe we lost and it's disappointing. I really don't know much else what to say about this game.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I wouldn't be too worried about single game results at this stage in the season, we just need to keep being consistent. Haven't been able to watch the whole game yet, but it seems like we were over-relaying on jump shots and they were not falling in. The defense looks great, DJ is apparently being able to play with some consistency on that end (FINALLY!) and Green showed a couple of flashes of what he can do, let's hope this isn't a tease like the rest of his career.

Plus, we are now a game and a half under the Raptors, which means we get Brooklyn's 2nd rounder. And with how they've played and the news that they're buying out Joe Johnson, it will be essentially another late 1st at 32nd or 33rd.

Most guys here have been all season on panic mode, and I'd like to remind you that this might be a top 5 best season ever for the Clippers. Don't forget where we come from, and enjoy it while you can. We might be in the lottery again some time soon, so enjoy this postseason as much as possible. I know last season's series against the Spurs was my favorite moment as a Clippers fan by far, so instead of whining all the time like we're entitled to a championship, I'd rather be thankful that we get to watch some of the best players in the league defend our jersey every night, and hope for another playoff battle or two against the best teams in the league. That's my hippy rant for today :-D

ya, honestly this one doesn't even bother me as much as the minnesota game. well i mean except for our horrid bench play and doc playing pierce for more than 5 minutes and also doc letting jamal do whatever the hell he wanted on offense.

but things happen. sometimes you eat the creampuff. sometimes it eats you. fortunately for the past few years we have mostly feasted on bad teams. when blips like this happen you just have to move on.

The Clippers clearly miss Blake Griffin even if the general public doesn't recognize it. I think they will definitely finish either 4th or 5th. Doc should think about resting CP3 for a few games. He is clearly dealing with some nagging injuries- thigh, calf, forearm. If they lose because of it, so be it. It would be nice to keep home court in the first round but if CP3 suffers a catastrophic injury because he isn't given a chance to recover, what's the point?

i think if cp3 sits a few games we have a legitimate risk of finishing 5th. but even then that would be tough to do. i have a hard time seeing us finish anywhere but 4th.

I agree, but 5th is better than CP3 being out for the season. What I mean is that he was clearly laboring and limited last night. Doc should have just sat him for the rest of the game once he strained his calf. He should probably rest for 2 or 3 games until he is right. If they lose all of those games- so be it.

oh, yeah i'm not disagreeing. gotta do what you gotta do. i'd have a million confidences that whatever team passed us from 5th to 4th is one we'd beat in 5 games or less anyway. having HCA would mean nothing to us in round 1.

I really like Green. His clutch defense was nice to see.

I'd also play Wilcox over Austin if I had a choice.

It's nice to see DJ experimenting with post moves. Even though they look awful and rarely go in, it's an area we have no choice but to improve.
