Carried Away by Rivers

Post#2 » by Ranma » Sun Nov 26, 2017 4:09 am

Geez. This team with Austin Rivers as a big part of the team is playing like utter crap. I'd feel better having rookie Jawun Evans running the point out there than Junior Rivers. The problem is that Lou Williams deserves significant playing time but you can't play him and Evans at the same time.

Sweet Lou

Post#4 » by Ranma » Sun Nov 26, 2017 4:41 am

Lou Wiliams is making things happen and has practically pulled the Clippers even in single-handed fashion while teaming with Blake Griffin to give the Clippers the lead late in the 3rd quarter.

Lou was way nice but the story is we held the Sacs to 10 points in the 3rdQ

D,D,D,D

Lou = 16 pts, +5. Austin 14 pts, +11

the real story is DJ [-2] gives way to Trezz [an amazing +17]

It wasn't pretty, but they pulled it off. Blake with the game winner, very nice shot there, and good defense on the Kings last possession

Back to .500?

Post#7 » by og15 » Sun Nov 26, 2017 5:36 am

I know everyone had thrown in the white flag, but Clippers are 7-11 now. Coming up are the Lakers, Jazz and Mavs. Clippers could be 10-11 by the end of next week and back in the fight to stay at .500 or above. It's a long season. Teams that lose 9 in a row obviously aren't contenders or even top 4 teams in their conference usually, but contender we weren't expecting anyways. It is still possible that this team can battle for .500.

This team can't even tank correctly. We really need that Nets pick now, since it's clear we're going all out to ruin our own draft position. :nonono:

The true way teams tank is by putting out bad rosters. Trade all your good players and then throw out a lot of rookies/sophs and D-League players. Even with the injuries, Clippers are still putting out a roster that is at the least better than 9-10 teams in the league right now and arguably more. It's going to be a bit hard to actually tank while doing that unless players are severely underperforming. There's no reason we would want a team of players who wouldn't want to win and wouldn't be going all out. True tanking teams have players who despite going all out are just not anywhere talented enough to win. Philly wasn't playing poorly when they were tanking, they just plain sucked talent wise. This team does not suck talent wise.

I'm going to keep echoing OG on this. Hinkie's Sixers intentionally populated the roster with rejects, so much so that they fell below the Collective Bargaining Agreement minimum team salary and had to pay a fine. It was the Cleveland Indians in Major League--assemble the worst team legally possible.

I'm from Philly and am happy how things are looking now, but it wasn't worth the disgrace. Ballmer is NOT gonna go for that.

Lou Williams is such an upgrade over Crawford. He is a very good player.

I’m very happy they pulled this game out. Would have been very disheartening to lose after such a valiant effort

I'd like to echo this sentiment. Lou Williams is a freakin baller. I don't think we'd have any wins on the season if we didn't have this guy.

I have to admit I was concerned when I saw the half time score. Somehow we managed to hold the Kings to 10 points in the 3rd and 34 points overall in the 2nd half. I know that we let the Kings back in and Blake bailed us out with a tough shot that won us the game. A 2 game win streak is nice especially when we lost our previous 9. I knew with easier teams coming up we would have a chance to start winning again.

I never wanted us to tank, it was just unfortunate that we had such a bad losing streak early in the season. I also doubt that we're getting the Nets pick, if I were Cleveland I wouldn't give it up. Even if we finish the season above .500 we'll probably have a pick in the teens anyways.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

If the Sixers win a championship with this core, are you really going to claim with a straight face that the tanking wasn't worth it?

Ballmer is NOT gonna go for that.

So far, the only thing Ballmer seems to go for is high-priced mediocrity. I'm becoming less impressed with him by the season.

I wasn't on #TeamTank to start the year, but I'm on it now because of the losing streak and the injuries. This stacked draft is looking like a golden opportunity.

Sadly, I can already tell that in typical Clipper fashion, we'll screw it up. We'll win just enough games that we won't get a good draft pick, we won't trade DJ, and we won't fire Doc. We'll overpay DJ this offseason and take ourselves out of the running for big-name free agents, because Ballmer is afraid of change or making tough decisions. We'll continue running on the treadmill for the foreseeable future.

I mostly ignored the Sixers for 4 years. Steve Ballmer is 61 and he's not going to waste his best years becoming the disgrace that the Sixers were.

And although I tried to keep up with the Sixers, there was no point in watching them play. I'll be glad if they win, and I did invest some dues in The Process so I won't be bandwagoning, but no, it wasn't worth it. I'm a much bigger Clippers fan than I ever was a Sixers fan, so that goes double for LAC. I was here for the Sterling years. I'm scared to death we might be headed for a repeat. If that means I have to settle for .500 until some miracle happens, then cool, .500 it is.
