Hi Guys ... Raptor fan and I come in piece.
Many of us believe that DJ would fit perfectly with our team on and off the court. The fact that he is very close with Kyle and Demar only helps the fit.
So, assuming this deal happened closer to the deadline, REALISTICALLY, what would the Clippers want for a short term rental?
Obviously the starting point is Valanciunas. JV's opposing FG% is actually a little better, but he isn't as dominant a rebounder or shot blocker, but he does rebound at a high rate. He also ranks high in rebounds he differed to teammates - so if he was a little more selfish, he could have a lot more.
He's got a sky high FG%, is a good mid range shooter, and this year has been used as a facilitator from the high post in their new offence. He's also incorporated a bit of a 3 point shot from straight away.
Other pieces that could be available...
Delon Wright - very athletic, defensive minded PG who is long and aggressive and greatly improved in the half court offence. His outside shot is improving and he has a FILTHY euro step.
Fred Van Vleet. Many call him a mini Lowry. Bulldog on both sides of the floor. His stats aren't great because he started slow, but has looked great over the past 10 games.
Lucas Nogueira. A shot blocking big who is always high in RPM. He plays above the rim and has developed an outside shot.
I think 3 guys that would likely be unavailable are Jacob Poetl, Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby. They are just TOO BIG a part of the future.
What would it take to get the deal done?
Help us out, and we promise to be your best friends.

I dont see a deal working. I would have interest in OG, but thats about it. You owe a #1 to Brooklyn, so any pick from you is going to be at least two years away.
Val doesnt make sense in a deal. We would just try to bring back DJ and go from there.

Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

I don't see us trying to tinker with the roster for a win-now effort. Either we mash the gas pedal in the car we got or we hock everything for a full rebuild.

Clippers season ticket holder here.
JV is a net negative. I’ve been on your boards long enough to know how much of your fan base dislikes both him and his contract. So don’t pretend like that’s a positive asset, a big who can’t play d.
Deleon wright and a first rounder is what I’m realistically thinking. The Clippers are rebuilding and it’s better to let DJ walk then to take on bad contracts or mediocre win now guys.

If you aren't including OG or Jakob, you'd need to find a third team that greatly values JV and have those assets, along with Wright and a pick comeback to the Clippers.
And, I highly doubt, any team would give up assets and an expiring contract for JV.
