Fellow Clipper fans: Do you still watch the NBA outside of the Clippers?

Post#1 » by Akklaim1 » Wed Dec 6, 2017 6:10 am

The dominance of the Warriors and the Cavs has simply turned me off. It's like there's no point anymore since both teams will meet again in the Finals. Yeah, the Rockets and Celtics look to be defying the odds, but the NBA Finals matchup is still predictable. I need to see the Warriors and Cavs get eliminate before the NBA Finals and have different NBA finalists but the odds are stacked.

no. never.

not even kidding at all. for a superbowl game 2 years ago, I was watching a baseball documentary about the 50's NY teams, from Brooklyn Dodgers POV. during last year's NBA finals, I think I spent most of that time reading manga on internet.

baseball is the only sport I can actually watch at any level and be entertained. even LLWS and NCAA's WCWS for hours. I even stay up on weekends time to time to watch foreign baseball games via stream that starts at 3 in the morning.

but for the Basketball, it is the Clippers or Bust.
ehhhhh f it.

Yes.
Wednesday and Thursday nights. If I’m at a bar around here and the Bucks are on.

League Pass is a scam to me.
Pass.

Have league pass, so yes, but works because I don't really watch any other sports these days

I do on occasion watch other NBA games. I also enjoy college basketball, so if it's not the Clippers I find myself watching that, especially Penn State basketball.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Used too, but recently, I've gotten more into the high school level action (thanks in part to Baller.TV) and focusing more on those type of games.

Some names from LA area to look out for that could make the NBA in a few years time are:
Johnny Juzang & Spencer (Harvard Westlake, can't recall Spencer's last name). Both are Sophomores.
Sir David Singleton & Gianni Hunt (Bishop Montgomery). Singleton will be @ UCLA next year, Hunt is class of 19 and will probably join fellow Bishop alum @ Oregon St.
Jahvy Medearis (Cantwell) is part of the Class of 2020. Reminds me a lot of Jamal/Lou.
Austin Cannon (Damien). Class of 2020 as well, and dude looks slow and unathletic, like a character out of Hoosiers, but can shoot lights out and jam on you.
Devonaire Doutrive (Birmingham) is still unsigned but an absolute baller.
Makani Whiteside (Taft) reminds me a lot of Mo Gotti. Class of 19.
Devin Askew (Mater Dei) is Class of 2021, and is getting burn on an absolutely STACKED team. The Monarchs are easily a top 10 team in the Nation and the best in the state. For Gary McKnight to trust a freshman like this speaks volumes.
Lamont Butler (Riverside Poly) is Class of 2020, had a huge summer with AAU and continued it into the season.

don't remember the last time i've seen a clips game and it's kind of sad. i thought with the team changing so significantly i'd be way more excited to watch this season, but not being competitive on top of some real life things going on has reduced my interest to 0.

would love if things changed so i could get back to watching my favorite team and favorite sport.

Not so much in the last couple of weeks. Depending on the match-up, I may watch an entire game. Other times, I may watch portions of a game. Cleveland, Philly, Milwaukee or teams with up-and-comers are more likely to get me to tune in.

Not really. I'll watch Cavs/Rockets maybe. It doesn't even give me joy anymore to see the Warriors losing if the Clippers aren't winning, TBH.

As a basketball fan, I don't really vibe with the modern day NBA as much as I used to, as instead of the signature dunks/dribble moves/post moves/superstar duels that used to lend character to the league it's become a repetitive three-point chuckfest.
I root for players always, organizations sometimes.

I don't know how I'm ever going to forgive the Clippers' new front office.

This season I started to watch Clippers games because of Teo of course. He got injured at the start of the season. Nevertheless I have continued to watch Clipper's games, they continued with wins, but then they fell into a loosing streak. I still watch Clipper games but finally after Griffin injury happened I have lost little bit of interest. First of all, mainly because of DJ and Griffin I thought Clippers would be very fun to watch team but without Beverly's unique defensive skills it was not fun anymore when seeing them loosing.

Man, I miss the old days of defenaive struggles. I just looked at today's stats. The Spurs and Celtics are the top 2 teams in PPG allowed with 97 PPG. 97! Back then, if your team was averaging in the high 90s, you were considered a high-powered offense and if you were a great defebsive team, ypur opposing PPG would be in the 80s.

Low-scoring games were fun. It didn't mean teams sucked offensively. It's just that defense was taken more seriously. Scoring a basket meant a lot more since it was harder to come by.

Not the 1st time McKnight has done that. Hasnt always meant the guy is destined for greatness.

Mike Gerrity comes to mind.
Taylor King too.

While true, it isn't very common that McKnight trusts freshman the way I've seen him with Devin. Sucks that Bol & PJ bailed out, Mater Dei would've won the Dick's National Title. Still can challenge for it.

Big game today though, Sierra Canyon (Duane Washington, Cassius Stanley, Kenyon Martin Jr., Scottie Pippen Jr.) taking on Shadow Mountain from Phoenix (Mike Bibby as coach and Jaelen House). Shadow Mountain just snuck past Chino Hills, and through their first five games is averaging 28 steals a night! They also have two wins by over 70 at this point.
